Acacia photo gallery

Migrated topic.
Is there any particular reason I cannot see 70% of the pictures on nexus?
Thanks for pointing this out!

Depending on how the photos were attached, they may not display at all if they're embedded in the post. Also, some third-party hosting has been lost over the years. I'll take a look through the thread and see what can be retrieved (but if someone was able to automate this, that would be even better). It's only partly to do with the forum migration. The ones in (or rather, not in) the post which you've quoted are a third-party hosting issue.

Would love to get the A. oxycedrus x floribunda pic back ;)

So far I've only found a post which references floribunda and oxycedrus separately, and the photos appear to be intact:
Was it maybe this post?
URLs from that post: [http]://imageshack.us/a/img89/3687/img1429cw.jpg [http]://imageshack.us/a/img826/9193/img1402e.jpg

Have you tried accessing your old posts with the edit function and retrieving at least the URLs for your old third-party hosted pictures for yourself? There's a limit to the amount of searching that I can do, but I'll do as much as I can with my access privileges on this site if you can't access the posts. Then I'd happily retrieve the URLs and pass them onto you.

I feel that digging up lost pics from third party hosts is somewhat beyond my remit at this point. It looks as though ImageShack, for instance, requires creation of an account to log in with these days. At least, I assume that's how one gains access to any kind of search function. There is also an API but using this would be beyond my current skill level.

This does not appear to be the kind of thing that Archive.org will have stored either.

An interesting Acacia. Maidenii specimen

And a couple A.phlebophylla I'm too scared to even look at wrong.
I've had a couple pop but then just die...these are my last left.
Need them to put out some true phyllodes, get a little bigger and I'll be so happy...

Cool.. how old are they? No reason why they wouldn’t put out phyllodes. It’s what they do ;)

15 month old phleb. Germinated in the middle of a cold winter.. just changed the staking method as to avoid trunk damage.

They under 6months
My last couple that came up also just stalled on putting out new growth at this stage and just died.
I'm getting concerned this may happen again.
Got them in basically full shade now
Do you feed your young phlebs?
I don't know if I must up-pot or leave them in the cups I have them in till they get true phyllodes.
Just want them to grow!!

If they haven’t even thrown their first phyllodes yet then it’s not neccesary to upsize the pot. In fact it would be best to let the roots establish a little before stressing them out potting them on.. for this reason it’s best if possible to have them in a larger vessel from the beginning. This produces the best plants in my experience.

At that size I suggest keeping them somewhere sheltered from the elements. High wind and direct sun be damaging to such young acacias.. in the wild they’d be nestled among other plants/leaf litter and be sheltered from wind/direct sun.

It depends on the species and just how desolate your area is.. but there are plenty of desert growing acacia to choose from! Worth a shot..
There would appear to be active acacias growing in savannah conditions at the very least. Tangentially, my hypothesis regarding the purported psychoactive properties of giraffe liver(!) would be that it's partly on account of their diet of acacia phyllodes.
