Ammonia Wash or Recrystallization?

Swim is trying to decide which method to use, and would like some input. There is a bit of Lye in there, even with the sep. funnel it is so hard to get a clean separation (the base material hangs on to the glass and inevitably gets in there). Do you lose less material with the recrystallization then with an ammonia wash?

You'd better work with more naphta so it is easier to separate, taking some mm of 'security' between layers. My friend think recrystallisation is the best way anyway.

Both are cool recrystalize first, then wash.

When you do the wash, collect the amonia and pour it back into your next base batch. This way you recyle whatever spice came through without any loss all ready for your next naptha pull. The only down side I can think of, is if your doing it in your kitchen it is going to smell.
