Another Canadian Looking for naptha.. Varsol work?

Alright, SWIM is thinking about preforming a DMT extraction and like alot of others out there is having issues finding pure or clean naptha.

SWIM has access to coleman fuel and Varsol, but isn't touching the coleman flud because of its numerous reports of its product being green, mushy, and impure.

SWIM heard about some one questioning if Varsol worked and the question was never answered. Would varsol work as a naptha alternative?

The Tek in question is the nomans Tek FTR.

Varsol is known to evaporate significantly slower than naptha. Another question is, does any Canadians here know where to purchase some clean naptha? Brand names I should be on the look for?

With as much info as SWIM has, Ronosol lighterfluid (spellings probably off), and coleman stove fluid is not the greatest choice.


ALSO! SWIM has taken the liberty of digging alot in a little time and has discovered some new solvents in question.

Recochem Lacquer Thinner -> National Center for Forensic Science
Recochem Clear Kerosine -> National Center for Forensic Science

SWIM isnt exactly sure what is supposed to be seen in the chemical make up list of each substance. What isnt part of naptha in the list?

SWIM has used Ronsonol, Escort fuel and one he got at his local grocery store that was clear and smelled like the other 2.

All worked exactly the same.

Of course he only uses naptha for tests now, he uses xylene or toluene or d-limonene because no heat is needed and you get all the active alkaloids.
Xylene or Toluene can be bought for like 15-20 bucks a gallon at Home depot or Rona, d-limonene ordered online (for much more)

Can't say much about these other solvents...

Thanks a lot! Xylene and Toluene.. So Any Solvent, Either Vm&p Naphtha, Toluene, or Xylene can be used for the non-polar solvent as in the same proportions as given in the Nomans Tek?.

It seems the more I get into this, the more advanced this basic organic chemistry looks. So much for Chem in High-school.. Ide really like for this to turn out well! Will Post pictures in time

You cant freeze precipitate xylene or toluene because dmt is too soluble in it even at freeze temperatures. They also smell horrible, btw..

I would suggest you check into limonene extractions, such as BLAB, Amor Fati's non-toxic approach or q21's tek (though they might seem to be a bit longer/more complicated, if you understand the principles its actually pretty simple, and its so much more pleasant working with orange oil than with petrochemicals)

Thanks! I understand that by now actually. With a little reading around, one picks up on a lot pretty quick. A bit more reading might just make this limonene extraction business look like a cake walk. Ill make sure to post what rout I take in some future posts when I'm ready to do so 😉

You can also get Bestine (n-heptane) from higher end art supply stores. Sold as a rubber cement thinner. Works great from recrystallizing, have not tried for general pulls but have heard it works very well, evaps fairly clean as well.

Ronsonal lighter fluid is a good source of naptha, can be found at any Canadian Tire, comes in a big yellow bottle. Evaporates cleanly and is fairly cheap it should work for you.

SWIM tried CDN TIRE brand camping fuel and ronsonol light fluid.
The Camping Fuel left a very clear residue upon evaporation, whereas ronsonol evapped without a trace!

RONSONOL is the safest bet, can be found in CDN tire!

I have not tested it, but other canadians have pointed me in the direction of ESCORT fuels (available at canadian tire). I had heard elsewhere that it was the same as Colemans, which DOES have a blue antirust agent in it, but apparently it's not.

well i am not swim there fore i dont trust swim.
i recenty had the same problem trying to find lye and naptha in a varity of places and even hard time finding ph papers wtf!!!

i found lye in the plumming section as 100% sodium hydrixide
i found naptha in zippo lighter fluid although no one carrys it any more due to ppl using it to make drugs and huffing it. i had settled for colmans camp fuel. and later bougt some lighter fluid and work with that and ph paper i dont know why i cant find them the closest i can come to is pool and spa test strips wich did not work at all cuz they only go form 6.7ph ot 8.9ph i ended up buying a test kit that uses drops wich i realized that would not work because the murky bark water would not be clear to show the differance in ph. so that is life can any one help? also i extracted some today a small amount i purchased 100g just to get the feel of things. i dont intend on doing this dmt that i make just to get the hand of it and when i do i will buy a few lbs. my bigest flaws so far have been no ph papers and no scale to mesure out lye so on and so on. i also have not been able to see the ph of my acid bath so i might have put too much and left it in to long? and eye balled the lye what a crapy experiment good thing i did not make a huge batch but i hope that if i recrystalize it a few time mike make things right. well thank god for a learning curve!

zippo lighter fluid, though expensive in comparison to buying solvent in a hardwarestore, is a suitable naptha and has resulted to be clean for me....it's difficult to get naptha in mexico too

I realise this is old but I just want to update - I Used Ronsonol lighter fluid for my first 3-4 stb teks and it definetly works.
Then after reading a similar thread suggesting this escort brand, I decided to give it a try.
The difference was night and day. Escort actually grows the circular crystals you see people posting on the nexus, while ronsonol gives you tiny specs.
ESCORT CAMP FUEL is a billion times better at pulling more dmt in each pull AND yielding purer product before additional purification is even done.
If you check the MSDS sheets for these two brands, there in lies the answer why.

Hey guys- Just an update for my fellow Canadians, I have been informed that the Escort Camp fuel (Naptha) has been discontinued :cry:

So I guess we have to use Ronsonol ($$$) or that coleman stuff, but I got some here in BC, and it had a reddish tinge to it, and that tinge came through on to my extracted spice... not cool. A recrystallization with the Ronsonol took care of that (and left me with some really nice white, crystally spice:grin: ) So the constant canadian struggle for good, cheap naptha continues... if anyone knows of any good alternatives here in canada, I would love to hear about em!

I have used Jon-E Handwarmer Fluid but I don't know if it's still available and I'm not sure if it 100%. Also I just finished off a can of Energine Spot Remover which is 100% naptha.
