Any Cacti Cultivators?

Do y'all think 50° is too cold for San Pedro seeds to germinate?

Gets like 50-60°f at night here rightnow, is this going to stop them from growing?
I feel that's quite low in Temps for seeds to germinate, I like to keep my seeds being sown at around 24-30°C (70-85 °F) while they are being sown. I usually give them 24Hours of light and heat during the germination period (Just my personal preference)and one they have sprouted and start growing switch then to a 18/6 light schedule and let the night time Temps drop a few degrees. This can be achieved with a Thermostat on the hest mat, I keep high humidity for the first 3 months then slowly start to decrease humidity. Do keep an eye out for alge growth with the high humidity though

Share some photos of your cacti grow, I'll be sowing a wack load of Lophophora Williamsii and Diffusa seeds soon. Been trading/Sharing all my seeds the last while but the next little bit I'll be sowing then all.

Here's my loph-to-bridge-to-PCpach double graft. Only just took between the two trichs, hopefully only because of mechanical disturbance. I may yet try redoing it for better trich-trich contact.

The loph-to-PC single graft is still going swimmingly. The growth acceleration is quite staggering - there's pups ready to graft onto new stock, besides the one that went onto the experimental bridge, er, bridge…

Enjoy!

Hi @Transform,

Thank you!

Awesome Grafts! I "inherited" a couple of grafts but haven't yet mustered the courage to try one myself.

>Is it 60°F in there, or is it 60% rh and some illegible single-figure °C?

Good eyes! That thermometer was reading 60°F and some illegible RH. I have since set the thermometer to °C so I can practice the metric system .

I am in Zone 8b/9a. It can get warm in the greenhouse in December, yet the threat of freeze exists as well. I also use a Govee WiFi thermometer to monitor the greenhouse temps. The trend reporting and alarms are helpful.

Thanks for the link to the proper thread. I couldn't find it when I looked earlier.

Great thermometer set up - mine only reads out to a base station so I have to use my built-in optical monitoring system a.k.a. eyes and decide what to do about it partly in advance from the weather forecast.

It would be funky to get some nice graph readouts like yours one day (y)

The next few days are looking good for transferring most of my plants outside for the forthcoming summer - and it should be cloudy enough for them to acclimate such that sunburn can be avoided. Then the tomatoes get to take over :)
