Art Bin

Migrated topic.
Well, as my life bounces around a bit, it looks like I will have limited internet access for the rest of the summer. Here's one last image before I take a break from posting these for a while. I'll definitely still be reading it when I can though. Looking forward to seeing more great stuff posted here.

Garden Party

Something quick but traditional. (And not based on DMT).

I've been trying my hand with oil paint. Two 4x4" panels, one with underpainting and straight oil and oil medium, one without underpainting and added alkyd medium:

I just want to leave a warning for nexians who, like me, come back to take a look at the art bin after a long while and are about to start browsing back into the last few pages: get ready for gaping. Actually, in case of male nexians, you may want to stand up because if your jaw drops where you're seated, it might hit your balls.

I tried downloading your image, Art, and it said the file was damaged. Don't know if anyone else is experiencing the same problem.

Great stuff there! All kinds of fun throughout the whole character. Really dig the back tattoo (figures, right?) it's got some very spice-esque color use going on. I also like the subtle patterning going on through the skin.

You could make him look a lot more massive by building out the lat muscles, work on making that big V shape more prominent.

Looking forward to seeing the face treatment! And yes, designing for the body is the ultimate privilege. Once you reach a professional point where you're past the tribal armbands and baby-daddy-names, that is...

Tatt, any idea who did that crazy pyramid piece? That's about as close a translation I've seen to those inner spaces... Wow... The patterning, the luminosity, the way you see more and more as you focus further back... I want to see more!

I was curious too, and sniffed around a little bit...
