Art Bin

Migrated topic.
in progress... an experiment in restraint, wanna see if i can finish a piece without getting caught up in fixing all the mistakes and adding way too much detail.

Jamie, I like the direction that's taking- nice to see sacred geometry motifs fused with more personal elements like that.

Beacon, really cool. I'm sort of a sucker for that apocalyptic future stuff. You familiar with Alex Ruiz?

Very nice. What's the lone apocalyptic road warrior on the overpass in the background's story?

you tell me.

thanks Guyomech, i'm familiar with Ruiz but not a fan at all. it's my main gripe with most concept art, so packed to the brim with detail and cookie cutter themes that it leaves nothing to the imagination. skills, absolutely... soul, no.

i am however a big fan of Nicolas Bouvier, he was the inspiration for this current piece actually:

Me trying to be creative, but still somehow not at all what I was aiming for (perhaps because there's no color). Maybe I'll try painting it when I have time...
Inspired by music, which is both beautiful and dangerous; both transformative and manipulative; both charming and powerful:

A length of caapi vine wrapped in copper wire, with an eagle's claw wrapped at the tip.

Jamie, that looks great. Definitely one of your more fully realized pieces. FYI you won't get a good photo indoors with a flash, regardless of camera. If you take a photo outside on a hazy day using a tripod, no flash, with the sun partly off to one side, you should get much better results. If you want a hand with the final Photoshop cleanup and glare removal etc, please let me know.

Hixi, nice music entity. Color for sure!

And the caapi claw thing is really cool...

good work guys ,

@hixidom if you want to add colours automatically to your image you can use gimp to add a colour map , below i attached a image thats a sketch however i added a colour map and it provides a few cool effects to plain sketches ,

edit : in retrospect perhaps using a colour map is not as worthwhile as painting it oneself

Yeah, it's not just about the color. There's a certain unintentional flow and vibrance to painting (at least when I do it  ) that will help me produce a truer portrayal.

The color map example you posted is pretty cool though, considering that the coloring is automatic.

Beacon, those are cool. I like when artists who normally do intensively realized works switch to something really minimal and restrained, because you can still see a lot coming through despite the simplicity.
