Hi, I have just finished adding my lye mixture to the solution and it did not do what the instructions told me it would do. I tested the PH of the solution and it was at about 9-10. But the solution did not turn to a dark black color. It is more of a grey color and I had to add alot of base solution to get the ph correct. The emulsification is not orange, that is also grey. The naptha layer is separating, but im worried to continue since things are not the way they are supposed to be. Can anyone help me with this? Thank you!

Add a lot more base, until it becomes jet black. Easy.
I have added 100 ml of naptha to my solution, shook it up, and added base solution until Jar B was at 9-10 PH. I read in the instructions that the solution should turn to a black color, but mine turned into a grey color. Also the emulsion isnt orange, it is grey. I added a whole lot of base solution to get the pH correct. I believe that is the issue. Can anyone offer me suggestions?
I just answered you in your other thread what you need to do to fix this problem.
I used way too much base solution. The layers are separating, can you think of a reason why i shouldnt extract the top naptha layer? Thats my greatest worry, that the naptha may have an issue. I tested the ph of the top layer. it was around 4.
