I've only read reports of the black caapi being sold on the net as being extremely weak.

No first hand experience.

From what I've read about it in S. America, it is a very physical experience, shaking, purging, and some take it right before death to remain in the jungle after their body dies (may be false mythology, I honestly don't know, just what I read).
 
the problem with all these sub types is that each tribe recognizes different kinds, and they dont necessarily agree with each other on the definition (neither do biologists)

plus, there is what acolon said in another thread that it depends not only on the strain but also how it was grown, etc etc...

that being said, I dont know about anything black caapi
 
Just dug out this old thread doing some search work. there sure seems to be very little.. well nothing really that I'd actually call information, short of a few vendors touting it as uber potent stuff.

Is this actually a different strain?

I'm a little confused as I can't actually find any latin terminolgy for this plant, which begs the question, has this even been studied at all? Or does it even exist? Maybe someone just left it to rot a little hence the more violent purging that has been "reported".

I read something about it in the spagyric thread but nothing out of the ordinary was reported.

So is this for real or what?
 
apparently it's just stronger.

I've yet to puke from working with it.
So far it's been a kind, mellow, fluid, gentle, happy, blissful, medicine.

Both spagyric and vine.

Not a lot, just a little.
Sure it all depends on source and what-not.
It's not always dose dependent, anyway.
Sometimes I get strong effects from just a little. Not sure how it works.

but I hear it's DAMN good if you make a 10x changa tincture with caapi!

Imagine evaporating 10x caapi onto lavender, cannabis, with spice 1:1




one thing I know black caapi is really good for is prioratizing your life and helping you focus your energy on the possibilities.

I'm fishing through some caapi info on the ayahuasca forum so if I find anything related I'll mark a few quotes out.

I think I'm going to have to brush up on my spanish to get the best out of this venture :)

ayahuasca trueno or ayahuasca negra

This type of ayahuasca provokes especially strong purge and physical shaking which can be overwhelming. Ayahuasca trueno should be taken only by those experienced with the medicine. [note: although this source implies that black ayahuasca and thinder ayahuasca are the same, other sources say they are not]

This type of ayahuasca is harvested exclusively from the 'monte' (old-growth unflooded white sand rainforest). It is not cultivated. It is a powerful variety widely used by pre-columbian indigenous people.

I think what I've been looking for info on is the trueno variety.

I've been reading a few reports with black caapi. Apparently peruvian black caapi seems to be reputed as been nothing special all the way down to exceptionally weak. This is meant to be what most folk will be getting from online vendors.

Black caapi from ecuador is said to be very intense, with much more bodily effects which seems to correspond more with reports on "trueno" ayahuasca. But still no information on difference in plant content.

There are a good few folk who say they've tried lots of different vine, but the predominant factor of potency seems to be the age of the pllant material rather than strain.
 
Well I've managed to find a site that claims to have this special ecuadorian strain of caapi but the minimal order is rediculously expensive.

I definately wouldn't use this for myself, as I've never even tried proper ayahuasca, but this vine is apparently used to determine the health of the user by the shaman. It is also used by shamans to see into the future. This also corresponds with information I have found about the common occurence of users more likely to have a vision of their own death using this vine. Interesting stuff :) Still no science to speak of however.


Off topic here, but I thought this sounds pretty cool :) :

* Ayahuasca de las Mujeras, Women's Ayahuasca

So named as it has bumps or protrusions, "like a woman". The effect is more rapid. Gives visions of flowers.

Apparently it's mens ayahuasca "Ayahuasca de los Hombres" that gives visions of snakes which is what I'm more farmiliar with through my alkaloid extract mixes.

Then there's Ayahuasca para Ver Fantasmas, Ayahuasca for seeing spirits.

These are apparently how the ecuadorian shaman are known to classify ayahuasca whereas in peru they use the colour of the brew/vine.
 
Yeah I did some reading up on red caapi too. Seems to be the more popular one among the brave. As I say I've never tried anything but pharmahuasca so when I do make my first brew it will probably just be yellow caapi with no admixtures.
