hahaha yes! if I was to align with any 'religion'... it would be Bokononism :D

busy busy busy...

I bump this only because I am signing off again. Perhaps for good this time.

I guess I'll leave with a brief statement.

The one thing that unites probably all of us here at the Nexus is our interest in psychedelic substances. A desire that we all probably share is to live in a world where it is legal and perhaps even socially acceptable to use psychedelic substances for whatever personal or individual reasons we may have. I don't think this is going to happen anytime soon unless the psychedelic community as a whole intellectually matures. The taboo in studying and talking about these substances can be broken if such growth occurs. In some areas this has already occurred and is moving along largely positively.

This is why I have continually tried to stress the importance of taking a rational and scientific approach to dealing with these substances. The more time I wind up spending debating about pseudo-scientific concepts that people seem to eat up here the less time there is to get the rest of the world to really listen. This is largely my own fault. I could simply ignore such things. But something inside me cannot and that's something I should learn to handle better.

Anyway that is why I must move on. My calling in life is to science and it is through science that I hope to contribute even if only in a small way to the goal we all share. To live in a world where psychedelic and psychoactive substances are acceptable tools for recreation, personal growth, and medicine. I have said pretty much anything I can to anyone here who wanted to listen and discuss these issues.

I hope some of the constructive projects going on here continue and of course thank all those involved in doing such a good job summarizing and compiling and archiving so much information.

You all have taught me a valuable lesson that I hope to never forget. That lesson is that most of the human beings on this planet live in complete ignorance about how the world works and that through this ignorance violence and hatred continues. Not that any of you are stupid or violent. Not at all! By that statement I mean that you have all helped remind me that we as a species need to continue to learn and grow and love one another. You have shown me that those who have things to teach others should do so before it really is too late and we destroy ourselves.

It feels strange having to say goodbye to a group of people most of whom I've never met. But really what that shows to me is that this place and the people who have contributed to making it such a nice place really have meant something to my life over these last couple of years. Hope your all aware of that :d (seriously I shed a tear on this one)

Peace and love, goodbye,
Burnt

A man's got to do what a man's got to do.

But know that you will be leaving a void here that no-one else among us has the "know how" or the substance of self to fill.

Indeed a dark day for the nexus.

Yeah, please dont leave Burnt.... I've only just started posting here & have been a lurker here for more years than I'd like to admit to.. & I've always loved reading your posts... we def need you.... please, just take a break....

But whatever you decide... All the very best brother & take care....

I have really enjoyed reading your posts and like your take on things.
You seem like a very sane person and you have been a very good contributer to the
psychedelic community=)

Hope to see you here again sometime=)

Cheers!

Just a quick message from a relative newbie who lurked a while before joining, , Burnt, you're posts are always interesting to read, and I think sometimes we need to be given a more rational perspective to stop ourselves going off on a tangent merely because we want to believe something to be true, I have found your posts to be necessarily grounding and certainly inspire one to do their own research into a given subject matter.

Hopefully your hiatus will not be prolonged, and I'm sure from all the other messages posted here you can see how valued you are on the Nexus, even from those with whom you've locked intellectual horns with.

Best wishes,

Methtical

one thing that might help humanity is...stop trying to get other people to believe the same ideas that you do...because we all believe what we want to believe...and trying to say that what you believe is more true than somebody else's belief is just silly..let people think what they want..

this kind of thing is what religions have been doing for hundreds of years..making people believe the same thing as 'me' because my truth is more true than your truth..which is bullocks

i think this sort of idea may really help a lot of threads on this forum..there seems to be way too much bickering going on as of late which could be avoided if people stopped trying to press their beliefs(or Truths) onto others..but that is just MY belief

Amen!

Amen!

Really?!

Whereas that may make it easier for everyone, it's not really a recipe for progression.

Say it ain't so, Burnt. Say it ain't so.

I've been around here long enough now to see the best and the brightest among us fly the coop out of sheer frustration. I was really saddened to see Swimfriend go, and this too I think is a real loss for our little online community. We could use a lot more Burnts around here, in my (sometimes) humble opinion. I think it's great to have active members with genuine scientific knowledge. It's one of the things that makes this place special. You sure don't find it much elsewhere.

Personally, I've always found your posts to be both grounding and thought provoking. I don't always agree with your point of view and you're often a cranky bastard, but you bring a much needed critical mind to the table. I'll miss your contributions.

haha burnt you're a good man and my beliefs about things relative to this website and all that it concerns always seem to be identical to yours. Take care

Gutted if you do go :(

Your contribution to the forum and community in general is massive. I hope you can stick your head in from time to time. Nexus needs scientists!

Based on the brief time that I have known you, I think that you leaving, as opposed to the people that you often disagreed with leaving, is a sad thing. I hope the psychedelic community as a whole matures, too, burnt. I only have respect for your efforts.

Stay with us burnt, I enjoy your posts. You make me personally think a lot about your topics - they are food for thought with a lasting afterglow. Some learn at a slower rate than others.

Stay, speak, teach, ignore the hecklers. For the good of the Nexus.
