I know this a broad question but how many big hits generally for a breakthrough. I took 5 and was super groovy but I think I should've taken like 3 more.

Tough question to answer. Depends on dosage, tolerance to, and purity of what's in the cart.
Even if we know those things, it's still only going to be rough guidelines because we dont know your sweetspot.
Depth of experience is a little more controllable with carts though. That potential dilution can let you breach hyperspace a little more gently, or maintain lower levels of it if that's what you're after.
Lots of guys here can help you achieve more expedient breakthrough experiences too. This is a great place to get the help you need, whatever that may be.

I guess I was expecting the tunnel stages then enter the space..after the 4th hit I dissolved into my bed and was instantly in the space.
How many hits have you tried.

If you’ve got two hands, you can put a cart on each side of your friend’s mouth. DMT breaks down fast, so the whole challenge is getting enough in those first few seconds. That’s why vaporizing spice works so well — it dumps a lot in right away.
If someone’s going the two-cart route, use carts with good airflow like O2 carts. I’m new here, maybe there’s other suggestions for cart models. Definitely use something better than a pen battery. The Yocan Uni Pro works well.
They need to be preheated and not just with the battery’s preheat mode. I’ve heard the Best way is a candle warmer. Throw a sock full of rice into a bowl, put the bowl on the warmer, and mess with the placement and sock size until it holds heat well. (It would be so neat to find a candle warmer with precision temp control btw)
Feel with your hand to make sure it’s not too hot, then check with a laser or candy thermometer to be safe. I forget what temp my friend locked in, but once you get it right, leave the vape and battery sitting on the warmer so the whole thing heats evenly.
This gets the entire cart — oil and body — perfectly warmed. If you’re using something like the Yocan Uni’s metal body, it’ll stay warm even if there’s a delay like getting comfy.
Cart on both sides of the mouth, breathe deep like you’re aiming to fill the bottom of the lungs. Doing three or four super deep pre breaths is so helpful. (is that holotropic breathing? I forget the name) then blast off.
My friend that does this is a remarkably gigantic human and pretty dang fit. I’m not sure if a small set of lungs can do this just as easily. Either way that perfect preheat is somewhat necessary for cart breakthroughs. Still might not happen but it increases the odds.
Hypothetically a person could just increase the ratio of dmt in the cart but for someone reason the double cart method just works better for my friend if he’s trying to blast off on carts. My friend likes a 3:1 or 2.5:1cart ratio for this double method. He has tried 4:1 and either blacks out or “waists” dmt really fast without getting anywhere.

A whole pre loaded alien elixer cart, I had visuals and open and closed eyed but never broke through. Also local made cart as many hits as I could take and still the same outcome got to visuals but no breakthrough.
