Burning with The Machine

Hey folks,

This is more of a question targeting the smoking sub forum, however I do not have the ability to post there for some reason. This is in regards to The Machine.

Instead of pre-melting the measured dose of spice into the mesh, what if you split up the mesh into a bottom portion and a top portion and sandwiched the spice in between?

Have any swimmers tried this at all? As long as you are heating with the neck of The Machine pointed downwards, it should vape evenly. Further, it simplifies the preparation...although for reloading there would be more work involved as you'd have to push out one end of the mesh and replace it after a new dose of spice is dropped in.

Just a thought.

Using the machine,I never got on with the neck heating.

I preferred to point to the sky,and slowly pull the flame down,keeping the flame away from the top of the bottle,just getting nice hot air.

Or point the machine down,and keep your lighter well down to avoid burnage,this way you can vape a lot of spice very quickly.

At the end of the day,you've got to experiment to see what's works best for you.

Maybe get a vapor genie,I've never tried one,but a lot of folks swear buy it.

SWIM never was into the neck-heating thing either, too much soot...

Just make the copper stick out of the pipe/bottle/bulb/test-tube/etc, form a micro-bowl for the powder.
then hold the flame as far away as you can to just melt it.

Then hold the flame 2-3 inches below the spot it was melted for long smooth tokes.

Hold it right on the copper if you want a big intense toke. (hey, sometimes you need that :p)

SWIM has tried many similar methods to what the OP proposes, and finds that they're rather messy, clumsy, and not worth the trouble. Melting the dose into the mesh shouldn't be at all difficult. It's best to avoid having to use any mechanical procedures with the machine, if possible; it'll work fine as it is.

SWIM never thought that "neck heating" was common practice with a standard machine (SWIM dose it, but uses dropper stems and feathers with a torch which works well). Perhaps he just missed that tidbit, as he always just feathered the mesh lightly.
 
swim kind of uses this way to smoke through the machine,= swim calls it "the machine head"8) just make the cradle a little deeper,then fashon a small disk about 1to2 ml thick from the same material swiy already used to make the gauze, so it fits snugly
in on top of the half melted spice.just burn the mesh directly in a circular direction.

it really workes a treat for swim extra smoooth.just make sure its a snug fit we dont want a burn hole on swiy's body from it dropping out half way through a blast:!: , thankfully this has never happened to swim after a good few smokes this way.

actually after checking the fashioned small disk should be about half a ml thick and change it about every 5 or 6
