Can't basify over PH 12.6... Any pointers? Thankyou.

Good day to everyone!

Firstly, thankyou for reading. This is my first post here, I've been a bit of a lurker but have only now registered... I am having some repeated problems with my extractions, any help would be very appreciated.

I am using the Marsofold Tek, on 500g of material. The first time I attempted this, I only got 1g from 500g of Bark. I was using litmus paper, which was hard to read exactly due to the discoloration from the bark solution.

I went out and bought a PH pen, but I am having the same problem again...

Am I right in thinking that PH 12.6 is not enough to properly basify? I have read many teks, some say PH 13 is the minimal needed, while others (pictorials) show that 12.6-7 is sufficient. I'm confused...

I see the freebase clearly crashing out of solution, which then dissolves again with shaking.

No matter how much NaOH I add, I can't seem to basify above 12.6. I don't understand it? I initially thought this was due to the fact that my acid solution was PH 3.4 (more than needed), but after reading the forums, I see this shouldn't be an issue.

Any help greatly appreciated. I have my last jar of basified solution here, which has yielded only 1g again. I don't know whether to throw it out, or try to up the PH using another method.

Thankyou so much for reading :)

pH is a logarithmic scale so you will need to add 10x more base to raise one point than you did to raise the point before. Maybe you just need to add more? Can you estimate how many grams you added so far?

Another thing, is your pH pen calibrated? If its not calibrated, that may be another reason.

Lastly, is your solution black? If its black, you shouldnt worry, the pH is high enough for good yield :)

...plus some pH meters are not good for reading basic values. I also have one pen pH metefr that won't give a pH value over 12-something in solutions that are without doubt well above 13. my other good, expensive pH meter will give the right values.

Most likely your ph meter doesn't do a great job!

In my experience you reach a certain buffer point when basifying MHRB, meaning you add more and more but the pH doesn't seems to change. You can go higher but you need to add a lot more than before. However this buffer point seems to be enough to extract DMT.

My old notes

"Solution of 10g of NaoH and 100ml of H2O.
400ml of the acidic solution.

NaOh Solution/PH of the (acidic) solution
10ml - 9.9
20ml - 11
30ml - 12,1
40ml - 12.5
50ml - 12.7
100ml - 12.7

Only after adding an extra 20g NaOH I was able to get the pH to 12.9/13"
