Cleaning glass.. acetone..?

Migrated topic.

If memory serves me, the preferred way of cleaning glass labware is to wash with detergent and then quickly wash with acetone. Does this sound right? Many of the solvents used with plant material (naptha, xylene, etc) do no evaporate very quickly and are a pain to clean. I am curious what SWIY's procedure is.

Thanks

There is no preferred way to clean labware, it all depends on what reaction took place. But yeah, detergent and acetone are usually sufficient for removing residues from DMT extractions. Sometimes you might find caked on residues that need to be brushed or boiled away with lye.

HCl is good for finishing up what lye/detergent can leave behind.
