Cold from extractions?

Migrated topic.

Hello everyone -

I've been on here for a long time as a lurker and taking advantage of the wonderful resources available here. First off, thank you for your wonderful input and suggestions. It's nice to see such a great community. Moving onward...

SWIM did her first A/B extraction recently. She took all of the precautionary safety measures, including wearing a mask that filters for both dust and chemicals. Oddly, she got a sore throat a couple of days later and then wound up with a pretty bad cough. From what I understand, she doesn't get sick often and is wondering how much she should attribute her cough to the various chemicals used in the extraction process.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

SWIM usually doesnt wear a face mask..he likes to know when there is some foul chemical in the air so he can open doors or windows to air the room out...and unless you are reallllly getting into the chemicals used..it shouldnt really be that bad for you..maybe..

another possibility is that you used a lot of energy making your spice..it was also a gateway..and your body needed to go through a little update...im guessing you havent smoked it yet???

well welcome anyway..glad to have another one around

No colds from extractions. Breathing in fine particles gives you acute pneumonitis, shortness of breath. Breathing in tons of solvent vapors could make you dizzy and nauseus. Both of these feel very distinct from a cold.

My guess is that you've been infected by a virus. Maybe from the hardware store or something?
