Datura Ferox

:) was wondering if datura ferox would work well in a LSH tea to increase visuals and euphoria like datura stramonium is supposed to. :) has read on this forum that datura inoxia is supposed to be sedating and would just make the experience worse. Also if you knew of a supplier that sells both datura stramonium and HBWR for cheap :) would love to hear of them because :) usual supplier only sells ferox and inoxia

Datura ferox would work to potentiate a LSA/LSH experience, yes - just like any other member of the Datura, Brugmansia and the related families. I am, however, not aware of the amount of Hyoscyamine versus Scopolamine and Atropine in this plant. I can find some articles, but no one available for free. Maybe someone can help out here?

Daturas tend to have high concentration of Hyoscyamine and medium to low concentrations of Scopolamine, but there are exceptions - like Datura inoxia. As you have noted, Hyoscyamine is what you want, as it is not sedating as Scopolamine, is better to combat nausea and seems to alter the experience significantly better.

It is, however, not true that Scopolamine would alter the experience to the worse, it will in a minimum decrease any anxiety. 69ron has stated that he has not noticed any enhancement of effects with Datura inoxia, but in my experience, this is not true - I have used Datura inoxia seeds together with Psilocybe mushrooms with success. Datura stramonium are a significantly better alternative, that is true without any doubt, but I believe any member of these families can be used.

Bad news mate. Datura ferox seeds contains on average 766 mg/kg (range: 218-869 mg/kg) scopolamine, but only 7.5 mg/kg (range: 2-19 mg/kg) hyoscyamine. For the other parts of the plant, the concentrations are on average 1048 mg/kg (82-2541 mg/kg) scopolamine and 68 mg/kg (range: 0-149 mg/kg) hyoscyamine.

In other words, on average Datura ferox seeds has an alkaloid make-up of 99 % scopolamine and 1 % hyoscyamine, and the rest of the plant 94 % scopolamine and 6 % hyosyamine. This would make Datura ferox a bad alternative, but still possibly yield some effects. However, this would also make Datura ferox a much better sleeping aid than Datura inoxia!

Edit:
I found another analysis concluding with these numbers:
75 % scopolamine and 25 % hyoscyamine
76 % scopolamine and 24 % hyoscyamine
70 % scopolamine, 25 % hyoscyamine and 5 % minor alkaloids

This is not surprising, as the alkaloid levels and make-up varies alot in these plants. Still, it means Datura ferox is scopolamine based, and therefore not your best choice to use with LSH or similar substances.

It seems to be high in scopolamine like Datura inoxia seeds, but with a little more hyoscyamine content.

Scopolamine is good for certain things though. Its sedative effect can be used to calm down a mescaline trip without badly affecting the trip. You only need a few seeds (5-10 or so) for this effect. Most sedatives will bring the trip down, but scopolamine won’t.

A small amount of scopolamine with LSD is also good if you want to get rid of the speedy effect of LSD without messing up the trip.

SWIM has not used more than 10 seeds of Datura inoxia so he has no experience with larger doses. Perhaps a larger dose can potentiate the effects of psychedelics like hyoscyamine can.

Scopolamine is a stronger deliriant than hyscyamine, so be careful. It produces delirium at lower doses.

Just out of curiosity Ron, where did you find the numbers you base your statement on (more hyoscyamine than D. inoxia)? I do not think you are wrong, not at all, I just want more test results on the Daturas and generally on the family of Solanaceae. The alkaloid contents varies so much (just look at the 74:26 and 99:1 ratios I found), so I want to get a good overview of the available litterature. It would be extremely helpful if you would link to your scientific litterature, or upload a PDF.

Evening Glory, that's so time consuming. I’ve posted sources before somewhere on the Nexus if I remember right. My research is based primarily on the seeds. I’m not interested in the rest of the plant because it varies so much. When do you the research you'll find the rest of the plant varies like crazy, but the seeds don't.
