45g of protein in 3kg of potatoquite low protein diets
of course, some foods are harder to digest16 hours to reduce the chances of it being basically torture
Yes, so someone quite physically active would easily need over 9kg of potatoes if eating only that. That would be not only very difficult to eat, but almost 7000kcal, which is way way too much for almost anyone.45g of protein in 3kg of potato
And yet, people who ate exactly the same not only didn't need to fast, but needed to eat something light before the experience. While to me, eating something light before the experience makes it strictly worse.of course, some foods are harder to digest
I'm not reacting to the thread, I'm making an observation that I don't think there is a general "ideal diet".im not sure why people are reacting to this thread like its dietary advice
what did they eat ?ate exactly the same
protein needs are overblown, there are many low protein/fat endurance runners and ... what have you. higher protein needs may be relevant for body builders / people who are constantly being injured , many long term body builders even report being able to maintain muscles after gaining them on a higher protein diet with a lower protein but calorically/nutritionally adequate carbohydrate intakesomeone quite physically active
I don't remember, but it was the same as I did. For the light food before Aya, it was just some white bread. That person needs it to feel better during the experience, and I need to not eat it to feel better during the experience.what did they eat ?
Endurance runners, yes. Endurance physical activity doesn't require high amounts of protein.there are many low protein/fat endurance runners
No need to be a bodybuilder, anyone doing regularly any kind of strength-focused physical activity (be it for sports or working) will benefit greatly from higher protein intake.higher protein needs may be relevant for body builders
It's not a good idea to believe what most body builders report, as they also usually report their gains coming from "diet and effort", without mentioning the little detail of massive amounts of anabolic steroids. Bodybuilders aim to get below 5% body fat while keeping a very high percentage of muscle mass, there's no diet or training that can achieve that without anabolics. Whatever they do doesn't apply to the general population.many long term body builders even report
im not sure why someone would be lifting weights and drinking ayahuascaI don't understand why the idea that diet should be adequate to the person and their circumstances would be controversial.
and yet, "dieta" is probably one of the most important elements of ayahuasca shamanism, why? and this is not unique, anywhere serious inner exploration is going on, either vippasana or yoga or ... this is one of the most important elements of iteven for Ayahuasca there don't seem to be that many truly universal diet advice.
yes and like i said, body builders or anyone who is injuring themselves on a regular basis would benefit from a higher protein intake, which i still can't see applying to the ceremonial setting of either drinking ayahuasca or meditatingpersonal experience with strength-based exercise?
Why not? It seems to be personal prejudice. Of course, no one would be doing both at the same time or the same day. But many people practice both concurrently on a long term basis.im not sure why someone would be lifting weights and drinking ayahuasca
And yet, it's absent from e.g. Santo Daime, why? The same reason for both, I guess: different traditions that have developed differently.and yet, "dieta" is probably one of the most important elements of ayahuasca shamanism, why?
Again, that seems to be based on personal prejudice and nothing else.body builders or anyone who is injuring themselves on a regular basis would benefit from a higher protein intake, which i still can't see applying to the ceremonial setting of either drinking ayahuasca or meditating
For you, absolutely. Now, consider the possibility that the food that will be "ideal" for other people (which may be no food at all) could be different. That's my whole point.IME , food is tremendously related to my neurological state, so much so that the idea of a certain food not being "ideal" for something like a ayahuasca experience is a total 404 error for me
prioritiesWhy not?

i mean, for me, if im drinking ayahuasca, that moment may as well be the most important moment of my life, how can i even care about, lifting weights? and you should consider your complication "torture", not unrelated to this, obviouslybut the fact is that it does happen
Again, that's the keyword and my main point.for me
Please read what I said again:if im drinking ayahuasca, that moment may as well be the most important moment of my life, how can i even care about, lifting weights?
Of course, no one would be doing both at the same time or the same day
Lol.and you should consider your complication "torture", not unrelated to this, obviously
You should open yourself to the idea that the right way may vary depending on person, situation, goals, etc.why even care if there is no right way of doing things?
Yes, I know it's fine, thank you. It was just an example amongst the many possible to show that there is no universal "ideal diet". I also talked about fasting vs. not fasting, which is much more directly related to Ayahuasca, and that you haven't addressed. Not that you need to address it, as long as you're willing to admit the possibility that the "right diet" for Ayahuasca may not be exactly the same for everyone.if you like to lift weights and drink ayahuasca thats fine
i maintain that as you continue to work with ayahuasca there is a clear dietary direction it will take you which results in compounding signals of "yes" , so much so that its impossible to deny the existence of a "ayahuasca diet"as long as you're willing to admit the possibility that the "right diet" for Ayahuasca may not be exactly the same for everyone.
and clearly i didn't say "your" best experiences , you're welcome to describe yoursso far my best experience has been with ~3kg of yellow flesh potatoes steamed and a sprinkle of salt on top ~12hours pre-session
as you continue to work with ayahuasca
Are Santo Daime people lacking in experience, then? I don't think so (and their advice of eating 2 hours before doesn't work well for me).so far as fasting goes i believe 12 hours after a suitable meal is usually the right balance of sympathetic and parasympathetic activation to drink the ayahuasca
I'm not saying food has no effect, I'm saying the effect seems to be highly variable depending on the people. Also depending on the goals. Even among the traditions that practice dietary restrictions, the way they do it varies a lot. Again, drinking mouthwash is common for mestizo shamans, and in other places they drink it with alcohol. None of those can be said to be lacking in experience.so much so that its impossible to deny the existence of a "ayahuasca diet"
Fasting for over 24 hours works the best for me, avoiding overly greasy or salty food beforehand.and clearly i didn't say "your" best experiences , you're welcome to describe yours

"to mellow the head"why no salt
