disappearing dmt

Migrated topic.

Rising Star
So SWIM recently started another lazy man type extraction ...
He accidentally used 2x the amount of lye he needed to.
(He thought the containers had half the lye they really did ... dumb, i know)

Now, he's not sure if that has anything to do with it but, any dmt pull he obtains
looks like the normal snow globes.... It's just that when they start to dry, they turn
into a goo ... kind of like SWIM managed to pull every drop of plant fat out or SOMETHING.

He's kind of bothered by this xD.

He normally does a 1:10:1 ratio and it works just fine BTW.
This time it's 1:5:1 and he has no more containers to be able to dilute his soup
without ditching some.

Also, it seems some of his naptha pulls have the mimosa colored tint to them.
He's never had anything like this happen before.

Anybody have any clues?

You have used a really small amount of water, but if the naphtha separated ok and you managed to precipitate some crystals, it doesn't sound like the amount of lye you used (or the amount of water) would have caused you to pull extra plant fats. If anything, using less water usually just causes the naphtha to get stuck in the goo and doesn't separate easily. I would suggest doing a recrystallization with some heptane or naphtha.

Unfortunately, when doing STB teks, more times than not, you will get at least some plant fats in your spice (as you probably know). That's why so many people suggest A/B teks, as you eliminate any possibility of pulling the unwanted fats. I am sure some of the super chemists on this forum can tell you what might have happened in more detail, but that's what i think anyways... Good luck!

Check out the Red Spice thread for more info (and lack thereof) of this red tinted naphtha from STBs.

Not sure what it is, but it won't go away and has a different feel from N,N.
