Does toulene or xylene eat HDPE

Has anyone noticed toulene or xylene eating platic milk jugs at all?

I've got some dark spice and am a little worried about smoking it because it smells quite plasticy. Ace brand toulene was used to pull it.

That's odd. I had a HDPE baster. It does fine with naptha, but one time I got distracted while I was using the baster to suck out some touline from the can and I left it there for just a couple minutes. Later when I went to use the baster again I noticed the sides of it were "melted" slightly. So I finally found an inexpensive baster online at ace hardware and had them ship it to the store.

I work with solvent and MEK is about the only PURE solvent we sell to customers.
Even when the lable only states 1 solvent there is usualy other stuff in there.
So be very careful with brand name solvent.

as for toulene and xylene melting plastics , Yes they do.
I would stay right away from them if you can.

And doesn't spice smell plasticy anyway .... just a thought

Strange. The mescaline TEKs I see on mycotopia which call for using Xylene recommend using HDPE containers.

Lizard: Interesting. My biggest concern with all these TEKs is the purity of solvents. Care to name some brands, or post some links to some specifics regarding purity?

xylene or naptha wont eat a milk jug. or your baster usually. I do mesc extracts in milk jugs with xylene over the course of several weeks with no problem.

toluene WILL eat it though. Need to use glass for this.
