Endogenous DMT

Migrated topic.
Not only is that off topic, but its a bit mean..

Besides, have you not read this insightful discussion which Master of plants instigated?

What is the Role of D.M.T in the CNS?
-------------------------------------------------------
Hallucinogens are 5-HT2A receptors agonists.Such receptors seem to be
involved in the initiation and termination of dreams(through dopamine
activation)as deduced from introspective observations.
The main characteristic of dimethyltryptamine(D.M.T)is its
short-acting effect which, immediately, makes you think that DMT has
some specific role to play in the CNS.
Endogenous DMT,or related compounds(5-Meo-DMT),is perfectly suited in
order to be a short-acting efficient endogenous 5-HT2A agonist
produced in the initiation and termination of oneiric phenomena or/and
in other processes meant to sustain the high metabolic activity found
in oneiric phenomena.Due to the sensitivity of the 5-HT2A receptors to
downregulation by agonists the very short-acting effect of DMT at
those receptors seem then just natural in the hypothesis that DMT is
functional in oneiric phenomena.
My idea then is that DMT is used during the REM phase of dream,in
order to initiate a cascade of events which will lead to fullblown
oneiric activity.
If this is so,abnormalities of endogenous DMT pathways could lead to
spontaneous hallucinations or dream-like episodes.
The presence of an endogenous specific ligand active at 5-HT2A sites
during oneiric phenomena can also explain why these receptors
downregulate when overstimulated. It also gives an idea why 5-HT2A
antagonists are effective in schizophrenia.
In this context it would be particularly interesting to study the
eventual links between DMT and the diterpene salvinorin A as far as
REM sleep is concerned, because salvinorin A seems to trigger states
reminiscent of conscious dreaming.

It is an upgrade to CNS. And neurotransmitter.

To think that dmt is a magical chemical that lets you talk to god and spirits and predict the future is dangerous (because it might not be true). Saying its a chemical that alters your perceptions is way closer to the truth.

I agree, dmt is an nitro-based alkaloid, despite it´s structural formula and chemical classification but with completely magickal qualities. I mean, magick in the universe works, but only for those who do believe in it. I think I´ve already quoted TKM (Terrence K. McKenna), the most important dmt advocate and spokesperson, who said after his first dmt experience: ,This isn´t drug, it´s an magick!´ And this exactly is the opinion of every curandero, who use dmt as an active tool in his vegetalismo. And all the magick techniques mentioned above really works, I swear.
