I always knew that I can count on this guy... Still remember how deeply that scene hit me in Twin Peaks when Dale Cooper assists the dying Leland Palmer in his voyage through the bardos toward the white light... Now I know for sure that he meant it. He directed that (and most likely everything else) on truly serious purpose.
