Time? Rain? Temperature changes? Gravity? Slow chemical reaction?

What should I do to it, now that there's unvanted stuff in it?

Do a presumptive reagent test for alkaloids, to help make sure you won't be wasting your time.

Yes, there is at least one thread on cactus potency to be found if one searches for it.

These are pretty old (few years back), with no reported number of datapoints for the averages.
Given the latest influx of CIELO yield reports, we can actually get quite a good estimate of average+-std of cultivars given there are sufficiently datapoints.
From the last few months (as reported on reddit, using the CIELO checklist):

I've been working on this table (attached) which collects results from different cactus analysis. I added first of all journal publications, also underground assays. I've been careful to add sources to everything

It has 111 entries so far (as of 15/10/2018
130 as of 17/10

Ideally this will give us a good idea on mescaline content in cactus around the world, averages, distributions, being able to cross data such as growth/harvest conditions, vendor/geographical source, etc.

If you look at the excel table I also made sheets to separate per species, and on the bottom I added...

We are hoping that a good AI can search the web for the online calculator checklist images posted and turns those into a database. Over time it should increase.

A special case is the same cultivator reporting on different clones, data can be cut that way, along with aging, fertilizer, season of harvest, etc.

We also thought about adding an "upload to database" button on the online calculator, but decided against it to avoid bots, jokesters, etc corrupting the data.

Can I produce Nicotine salts using CIELO or HIELO? I thought HIELO & CIELO were developed based off techniques in making nicotine salts so it sparked an interest with this. Im sorry if this is in the wrong place, also.

I want to grow Nicotiana rustica and DIY nicotine vape for my dad & sister to save them money and Im interested in the extraction process for that out of fascination

Putre nicotine is very dangerous as you said, and I would not try to extract it.

You would need some serious PPE and detailed safe working practices in place before even beginning to think about extracting nicotine. Definitely not something to be taken lightly, ditto with things like scopolamine.
