Evaporating nearly a liter of acetone per 50 g of bark is wasteful. Perhaps you could rather add FASA or benzoic acid to the acetone, which could then be reused for future extractions.

Yes incredibly wasteful. I wouldn't do it again. Distilation would be better. How else would you drop out freebase without freeze precipitation following this tech.

Probably better to extract plant material with acidic water, evaporate, defat with non polar solvent, basify, dry, extract freebased dimethyltryptmine with 250 ml acetone and evaporate.

Supposedly freebased DMT solubility in acetone at room temperature is around 1 gram per 100 ml.

I suspect it's even higher solubility than that. Push up the temperature and you can really dissolve a lot of DMT in acetone. I'm not sure whether it has been attempted, but I think a variation of the bufotenine extraction tek could be another simple way to quickly yield relatively pure DMT benzoate.

It might go something like this:
1) Mix 50 g bark with 12.5 g sodium carbonate
2) Add 75 g water
3) Allow to sit for 60 min
4) Air dry completely or use a microwave (might help lyse the cell walls) or oven at 70 °C
5) Do 3 x 75-100 ml boiling acetone extractions. Acetone must be dry.
6) Decant/filter acetone... Or maybe use a french press.
6) Combine acetone and add 3 g benzoic acid or until no more clouding is observed
7) Allow to crystalise overnight

This worked beautifully for me with Anandenanthera colubrina seeds even without a defat and yielded very high. Probably the quickest extraction I've performed. TLC revealed only 1 visible spot.

I’m fairly sure it’s higher than that.. I’ve dissolved much more than a gram in less than 100ml

Ok my mistakes and successes:

Mistake:

On a double boiler I dried MHRB and sodium carbonate. WRONG, I got a lots of wax, which I didn't get in my first extraction,,which I dried on radiator on very low,heat. This mistake made me repeat the steps of cleaning up,,which overall made it longer, and I am sure effected my yield.

Other steps is ok to evap some on double boiler and finish up on on room temperature.

I cleaned by mistake the final DMT with white spirit, and placed my report here.

I started with 11,400 mg of MHRB and ended up with 1g of pure DMT. Fantastic, I think I would have even a bit more have I not had the wax problem.

Slightly different spelling for benzene than we're used to but the sentence examples seem to use both spellings interchangeably. I couldn't find what the rectified meant.

Has anyone locked in a formal process based of Endlessness's original intention without including anything other than the alcohol, sodium carbonate and vinegar? Benzine is not the same as benzene, just as "wire" is not the same as "were"! This is very important to note, and use of the term "benzine" should be avoided and heavily discouraged. I've written about this on multiple occasions.

Naphtha is plagued with a plethora of names, which is down to factors in the social history of the commercialisation of petroleum products.

The pure compound, benzene, C₆H₆ - while being an effective solvent in the laboratory, should not be used domestically on account of its carcinogenic properties.

Benzine, on the other hand, is a mixed fraction of largely aliphatic hydrocarbon petroleum distillate, better known as naphtha. In most places it is specifically regulated to keep its benzene content below 5%.

Clarifying this distinction becomes more difficult when the common name for naphtha in languages other than English is still something along the lines of "benzin", such as the "bencina" in the current example. The German-speaking world gets around this by using the term "Benzol", which has cropped up in English as "benzole" (as in "National Benzole Corporation"), but that still has the potential for causing confusion among the unwary. The "-ol" suffix general refers to an alcohol or similar hydroxy derivative (particularly phenol, which the uninitiated could be forgiven for thinking is what "benzol" indicates).

"Rectified" means the product has been distilled to meet a specific standard and is also found in the term "rectified spirits of wine", for example, as a kind of high-proof alcohol - which, incidentally, would be more in keeping with the idea behind this thread.

Thanks for the clarification on terms. I kind of jumped the gun on replying. It was my first time posting here and I was trying to be helpful. I Should have known you all were way ahead of my knowledge base. Did Jox or anyone else ever figure out just what he used and a source or more accurate name?

So this is probably not much interest in this however I'll share my new attempts at extractions... A 50/50 alcohol saturated salt brine causes the freebase to precipitate from solution. Likely possible to even use vodka.

The first salt brine from my attempt had lots of impurities and gunk that precipitated as a heavy black silt. There is a portion of DMT In this precipitate. Hard to filter clogging up filters

Save the alcohol and reduce it after filtering.

Rather than evaporating the alcohol completely like original post you would reduce to say 20ml or more then add 50% salt brine and leave it a few hours the dmt will precipitate but stay suspended in solution. You can then filter off the dmt. It does become a goo in the end however is much cleaner end product.

I've been attempting pulling with 96% ethanol however I'm fairly sure that 40% would work fine so vodka. I don't have bark material to pull directly but calcium hydroxide may be better but sodium carbonate may work without issues (I haven't tested)

EDIT: the amount of precipitate I get originally may be sodium citrate since i used citric acid to extract from the bark.

So After getting the dmt precipitate from the salt brine added to alcohol solution I filtered. The precipitate filter paper was soaked in fresh alcohol and added activated charcoal to clean up the color a bit. Then double filter paper to remove and slow evaporation.

so this is far from effective and I would start with 'oasis' extraction using oxalic acid to get the dmt oxalate first then freebase and pull with ethanol. This was from bark material which I was most interested in... From pure crystal the 'saltbrine alcohol works but does cause goo.

This salt is likely sodium DMT chloride or sodium DMT hydroxide ... I doubt it is pure DMT. I only tested the first larger crystals that formed... the goo and smaller crystals smell like plastic flowers ... I tested the first salts since looked like sodium chloride but different.

I just did some test extraction recently to see the viability of this method. It's just one more idea into developing teks with different household chemicals. It isnt supposed to substitute other teks, just checking out another option. The more methods we have to extract (and the more varied plant sources) the better. They cant hold us down 8)

Preliminary results seem good, but analysis will be done in the next couple of weeks.

Here's the sum up:

-Mix Mimosa powder with excess sodium carbonate, add water to make a paste, spread it in a wide dish and let it dry.
-3x pulls with 95% ethanol, filter the pulls
- Evaporate the ethanol
- Redissolved reddish/brownish wax in warm white vinegar, filter it.
- Mix the vinegar with excess sodium carb, spread it on a plate and let it dry
- Pull with ethanol again, filter, evap

This could for sure be cleaned up further by repeating the redisolution in vinegar, basing and repulling, (or with any number of classic clean ups like re-x with other solvents, etc, but the idea here is to use these limited chemicals). Ill leave the clean up for a later date when I have time.


I got a product that is yellowish waxy crystals with some darker parts, strongly smells of DMT. I vapped 10mg and its definitely DMT and active, but there is most definitely something else in there (plant oils? What else?) because I got a too large yield (5% or so).

This will be analysed by GC-MS and TLC in the near future, results will be posted.

That was a test extraction with around 25g to see if it works, and it seems it does indeed.. So if you have nothing but high proof ethanol, vinegar and sodium carbonate (or bicarb, which you can turn into carbonate), you can still get some DMT.

PS: Ethanol used was drinkable grain ethanol.. Do not use denatured ethanol as it has unwanted substances that may be toxic.

Others have informed me that complexes with sodium isn't possible so just salt with DMT around it... the salt in humidity melts and forms a transparent goo. The remaining solid salts is likely just sodium chloride.

When I get some free time I'll be extracting this with hexane to have exact 'purity' of the salts.

The square is NaCl with DMT and the rest seems to all by dmt with some NaCl contamination.

Based on the shape I suspected the first salts were just NaCl but I tested with reagent BUT others mentioned that even a tiny amount will show with elrich reagent.

After this in higher humidity the crystals formed a transparent goo... I'm fairly certain it is DMT with some NaCl contamination... the salts that remained solid are just NaCl.

Recent discussions have been suggesting - as a working hypothesis - that we're seeing deliquescence in humid environments due to the formation of a hygroscopic carbonate. This may be due to recent increases in atmospheric CO₂ concentration. But, as I say, this only a hypothesis at present and would require some kind of experimental confirmation.

There are likely several factors involved in deliquescent goo, not least being DMT's relatively low melting point(s), along with its tendencies towards polymorphism and oligomerisation.

Salt probably just makes the deliquescence worse - but you should be able to pull the DMT back out with fresh 95 - 100% ethanol.

I didn't think of that and I'll test it next time. A 50/50 ethanol Saltbrine will precipitate out the dmt if concentrated enough. I have different experiments I'll attempt first but this should be repeated using ethanol 96 to reduce salt contamination at the end to test viability.
