Extraction with Acetone

Migrated topic.
Btw. IPA behaves similarly.
Once I tried to 'salt out' water from 90% IPA (clean, not as a part of any extraction)
After adding some salt, salty water layer separated at the bottom, but when I evaporated upper IPA layer, there was some residual salt.
Separation is probably not complete.

With IPA and sodium carbonate solution I've even observed three liquid phases, plus a solid phase of sodium carbonate crystallising out of the mixture. This was with a crude but filtered MHRB extract, iirc, which formed a deep red layer. I'll have to see whether I can dredge up the photos - it was rather odd.

I stand corrected. I did wonder if it would seperate if saturated and when asking AI that direct question it said it wouldn't, I really shouldn't trust it for anything lol. Always learning. Thanks!
Yeah, a bog-standard LLM can't be trusted for chemistry advice, and probably a whole lot of other specialist technical subjects.
