Hello,
after reading a lot on it both on the forums and the wiki, I have built a machine and would love it if anyone knowledgeable with them could provide some feedback on it (pictures attached). Specifically, I'd like to know if:
* The size of the bottle is optimal.
* The steel mesh is OK, both in terms of size and structure.
* Whether or not the use of a plastic straw on the inhaling end (bottom of the bottle) is problematic (my guess is no but just to be safe).
... and more generally any feedback on the build would be appreciated.
The bottle is a small 33cl wine one, about 23 cm (9 inches) in length, made out of clear glass. I inserted two steel meshes in the bottle's neck: bottom one is about 3cm (1.2in) in diameter when outside of the bottle, top one about 2cm (0.79in). The idea is to insert the bottom one, melt the product slowly after depositing it on top of it, then insert the top mesh - the idea of which being to catch any falling DMT when turning the device upside down, and also to isolate the product from direct heat a bit more.
On the inhaling end, a plastic straw was inserted into the hole; it was already a pretty good seal as is but the seal was completed with electrical tape.
If I understood the method correctly: I'm supposed to melt the crystal slowly into the steel mesh, then wait a bit for it to cool down; then turn the bottle upside down, a use a torch lighter below the neck (but NOT touching the mesh/the product with the flame) while inhaling slowly. Is that correct ? what's the optimal distance for the lighter from the bottle's neck ? Will I be able to differentiate smoke/burned product from vapor visually ?
Thanks in advance !
As an aside, and for anyone wishing to build one, note that I managed to drill the hole in the bottom with a dremel without the use of a diamond bit; just a classic metal bit. I was very careful, slow (took about 15 minutes), and did it in a bucket of water, but it works.
Edit: are the images visible ? they appear in the attachment page but I can't seem to see them (possibly due to moderation approval required first ?).
