I wanted to share my first Salvia experience and see what experienced psychonauts have to say, so I would greatly appreciate any thoughts comments and observaation on this matter.
I've been interested in psychodelics for a while now, listening to countless hours of trip reports in the background. However, my experience with them was quite limitted: I've tried magic truffles and "liquid shrooms" that had mild effects.
I've got myself a gram of x20 extract, a pipe, a bong, and came over to a friend who would tripsit me and afterwards would try it himself (while I would watch him). I've briefed him on what could happen to me during the trip and instructed him not to let me hurt myself or his living room (where it took place). We prepared a nice setup: freed up the two-seater sofa for a person to lie down during the trip and turned on some trippy ambience on the tv in front of the couch (these details come handy in a bit). I weighed in 40mg of x20 extract and took a hit through a pipe - I felt little to nothing. I, then, loaded up and smoked some more, and started to feel some "high", although it hardely resembled any trip report I've read. At this point my friend got curious and decided to try as well. Seeing little to no effects he took a little higher dosage then my first two, yet he felt little to nothing. We started to take turns switching b/w a bong and a pipe gradually increasing the doses, emptying the entire gram in about 20 mins. Now, as for the effects, after 2nd or 3rd try, I felt slight dissociation, interestingly, It felt like something was pressing my head to turn to my down-left into the window and it took some effort to fight this 'urge'. It only lasted 4-5 minutes. After the 3-4th attempts (we increased a dose each time), salvia hit a bit stronger. It felt similarly to the truffles: more vivid colours and trembling pictures on the wall (which in reality were still). However the most interesting part was after one of the last hits - my perception of reality started to change. While I had no strong visual hallucinations, I felt differently, heavier. I felt the need to lay down on the couch because I thought (on some sensational level) that the couch and the tv placed in front of it were forming some sort of rectangular object that was either moving or about to move, and I had to lay down on the couch to properly fit in with the object in order for it to continue/start movig. It should be mentioned that 'the trippy' ambience we put on TV earlier had looped bart and homer driving the car, which most likely impacted the experience. It felt strange since I had no visual alterations, but the perception of my surroundings were quite different for several minutes. After laying down for a minute, I wanted to tell my friend what was going on. But as I looked at him while gathering my thoughts, I realized that I can hardly put my experience into words and, if I tried, it would have made zero sense. My friend's 'experience' wasn't profound either. After a higher dose, he was glued to the TV for several minutes, telling me afterwards that he "had felt as if he was in the car" that was on the video.
Anyways, I would describe the first experience with Salvia as disappointing and not worthy of 20eur spent on it: no profound insights, hallucinations, reality disintegration, ego death or getting trapped in the lamp for a millennium.
