I'm using quite basic equipment and thought everything was ok when I did my first transfer from grain to substrate but I forgot how tricky my heat source is to calibrate. Overnight the temperature crept up to 38°C. Should I give up that batch now or could it still be alive?
I'm using some water filled sandwich bags for thermal mass and separation between the heat mat and the substrate. Note to self and other mushnoobs: easy temperature control is worth the expense.
once you get everything working you will figure out the process is much less involved than it seems at the start...
