This is a brilliant idea:

I always wanted to give back to those who I feel create worth... Software I use, blogs I read, artists I admire... People who share their stuff for free but never get any financial reward for it. Like the Nexus.

I would really like to see a world where - with the help of such a system - artists of any kind can become financially independent, supported entirely by their fans.

I think Flattr is right on time. There is a rising need in people to give, to somehow support those causes which they find important. With this tool, the connection can be made.
