I have started pulling after only 30 mins...but longer is better.

So non separation could be due to it being not watery enough?
Once it took a while to separate when I used a lot of Salt...but it eventually did and was OK from then on...

you are mixing the terms. from where i see it, you did very little reading on the chemistry and the processes before you embarked..you should make your self a favor and go through the various topics and use the SEARCH function. everything has been already explained somewhere.
you probably meant your solution is not basic (alkaline) enough ? if your pulls are getting brown emulsions with tiny bubbles, than yes, you should probably add more lye.
if your pulls on the other hand are separating slowly, and are staying dirty, than you have the brown naphtha thing, and you probably have too much lye already..
ok i know i may be posting in the minorly incorrect section and some of you may say search this, but i haven't found quite the answer im looking for from someone with the experience im seeking, there's a thread on here mentioning the use of advanced nutrients ph up instead of lye, which in some areas is rather difficult to obtain without making it. SO, coming back from the hydro store i have this stuff, and the msds tells me its 45% potassium hydroxide, but i cannot find out what the other 55 is, someone said they are led to believe it's distilled water, but i'd like someone with experience in this particular subject to chime in before i basify incorrectly/unsafely.

SWIM did an extract on mimosa. the naphtha was clear in each pull, but after the evap the
Product was brownish and in a syrup form rather then crystals. swim vaporized some and it was very harsh smoke,
Leading him to believe it was not safe to smoke ( he had probably used too much lye,whether or not that makes the end product unsafe is the question)

I'm trying to find a good way to do this syrian rue harmine crystal tek using salt. Well, I have seen a few teks and some of them just say, "I manske the tea and then I base it and then I manske it again", etc....

Its part of the Tao of Rue extraction process. The mother of all extractions for rue. I had beatifull results with this compilation of tek's. I think its written pretty clear. If you have anything else in particular to ask, feel free to do it.
