Freeze Precep?

so, SWIM was observing his friends, former President Abraham Lincoln and Grover Cleveland and they are having a slight problem with the freezer precipitation in Nature Boy STB tek. They see white snow balls, crystals, if you will, inside the jar sitting inside the freezer for about a day or so, they remove the jars, the lids. They also see some condensation built up around and in the jars a little bit, then when they try and scape, the crystals turn to sludge and they disappear. So, what could they be doing better?
 
after you remove the jars from the freezer are you letting the 'snow balls' dry before scraping them out?
You should let the remaining naphtha and any condensation evap before scraping it out.
 
You can drain your separatory funnel into measuring cup. Then pour the measuring cup into your freezing vessel. There will be a tiny bit of water at the bottom of the measuring cup...careful not to drip it in!
 
do the following
1. freeze precip to get snow globes.
2. pour snow globes through a coffee filter. (the brown ones that lay flat work much better than the conventional white crinkly sided ones.)
3. line the jars up in a row and put a fan on them. put the coffee filter behind one of the jars so air will be moving around it, but no spice will be blown away.
4. wait until you can no longer smell naptha.
5. collect goodies.

there have been times where i have taken globes out of the freezer and been able to use the product within a half an hour using this method.
 
swim's having an identical problem.
when the rextalization was done and spice freeze precipitated, small amount of solvent(hexane) was left ( it was impossible to pour it away. Unfortunately it melted all the spice, that's why swim put it to the fridge again.
it's 2 hours already, and swim didn't notice ANY snow globes..worrying , maybe it wont freeze precep again?
or maybe swims just paranoid?
 
SWIM was told to pour off the naphtha and save it! Whatever is left in the jar, quickly seal it and turn the jar upsidedown in the freezer. He supposes that the naphtha will drip down away from the spice. Carefully open the lid to empty out the naphtha into filter and then leave that jar out to evap. He tries to get as much naphtha away from the spice as possible. After that, evaporating the tiny amount left in the jar should be fairly quick (it was for him).

You can always re-precip the naphtha if it starts dissolving too much.
 
Its a bit tricky thing.. sometimes happens to me too... so i take as much white crystals as i can without touching the bottom because doesnt matter how much i let the jar dry that yellow thing is in the bottom. so i avoid contacting it and collect white ones to another place and yellowish to other place and let the remaining evaporate and get crystals

it appears that melted spice, when dried is absolutely clear, not even white .) hope thats ok
