I'm doing preliminary research on extraction, and have a question.Once I separate saturated solvent,can I put it directly into a mason jar into the freezer?Should the solution be evaporated somewhat before?If so can I do this in the same mason jar?Any help is much appreciated...

how long did it take SWIM to obtain xtals?Did SWIM pour off solvent and dry in the same jar?

I recommend warming the naptha first, one so it will dissolve more crystals, and two it will evaporate faster. After the solution is saturated I put it on my portable burner to evap. I normally try to get around 25% evaporation. Then I put it in the freezer for AT LEAST 24 hours (I have found that if you are impatient you can pour out the milky solvent into another container and scrape the barley formed crystals for little pre harvest, as i like to call it), or until solvent is clear, and then some.

What is the safest way to warm naphta?

Make a warm water bath. Take a pan and add water, then bring it to a boil. Then partially submerge a jar with the naptha into the pan in such a way that doesn't directly contact the heat source (if your glass isn't Pyrex or lab quality, it will likely shatter if left on direct heat); SWIM uses a steel strainer with a lip that catches onto edge of the pan to hold the jar in the water like on this thread. Let it sit there for a while (SWIM does 10-20 minutes) under constant attention. And that's it.

Pre evaporating to maybe a quarter of original amount will make more crystals crash out. But if one wants to save on solvent, can try to make a bigger amounts of small warm pulls, straight in the freezer, collect whatever comes out and reuse the naphtha for more pulls.

for warming naphtha before its in the solution, heat some water in a pot to near boil, then turn off the fire. Have the solvent in another opened small glass container that is easy to pour out off, and submerge the bottom part of the glass with the solvent in the warm water, and let it stay for a few minutes. Take off the glass bottom from warm water and pour solvent into the mimosa mix. Careful because many times the solvent drips down the side of the glass.

I would not suggest warming naphtha for evaporation, you risk evaporating some of the dmt. Better use a fan instead (with a thin cloth over to prevent dust)
