From Mimosa to Phalaris

Hello! Sorry if this has been talked about somewhere else in the forum but I have very limited internet and am hoping a kind soul can help me!

I live in Northern California, Im familiar with extractions from M. Hostilis, powdered or bark, but I a now interested in starting from scratch and growing a plant instead of relying on another source.

Ive only been able to do a little research, but I took notice that many have said Phalaris grows in almost any climate. I have ample garden space/supplies and am very interested in growing different dmt/other alkaloid containing plants that would do well in Northern California. It would be great if someone could point me in a good direction. I am continuing to move forward in research, right now Im persuing how to prepare grass after harvesting it.

No clue what the climate is like there, but I`d suggest checking out the Acacia Top 8 thread (search for something like that). There should be at least one that will meet your climate requirements.
I haven`t read any real glowing reports from people experimenting with Phalaris, I got some growing...if you can call it growing :/

if you are growing your own, you are probably going to want a clone of a strain with a known chemotype (i believe AQ1 is the recommended). if not a clone, then a species known to have a "clean" profile (i believe brachystachys and canariensis are known for this - don't quote me on that)

also consider growing acacia, as was recommended by shaneduddy. i will also add that hostilis seeds seem infinitely easier to acquire than rootbark (though not as easy to grow - depending on climate).

I am growing Phalaris "Big Medicine". It is supposed to have a pretty clean DMT profile.

Question: I have heard one member mention that it's important to submerge fresh-cut Phalaris into ethanol for a minute or 2, in order to prevent degradation of DMT and/or other unwanted processes... Is this the case??

i do remember endlessness mentioning something about some kind of enzymatic degradation of tryptamines, requiring an extract on fresh material for best results.

i have not, however, heard of this method of stopping that, nor can i speak to its' veracity/efficacy.

In northern California I assume it is pretty warm ? Try the grasses by all means and post up your experiences with them, but all the while I would have a few mimosas growing on the side...

The climate of northern California is pretty agreeable for a lot of these plants. I suspect a well established mimosa hostilis (read at least a couple or few years old) would probably be able survive outdoors. Several of the acacias could also likely be grown outdoors, here's the link to the TOP 8 ACACIAS to Grow WORLDWIDE thread for more info on that.

The AQ1 clone of Phalaris aquatica appears to contain significant amounts of DMT with a quite clean profile. IMO it is the best homegrown source available (of the ones I've researched). The literature says Phalaris aquatica var. Austrailia is possibly the same as AQ1, if not the same it's alkaloid profile appears to be very very similar. Brachystachys seems like a good high yielding source, but may have 5-MEO-DMT instead of DMT.

Phalaris arundiacea var. Big Medicine does contain DMT, but it seems to be in much smaller amounts than in AQ1 and it's profile isn't nearly as clean. It is a viable source but not the best one available imo.
