I have found that when I'm in a state of oneness I find it really difficult to play my guitar...the only exception to this has been with mushrooms...but standard tuning didn't 'feel' natural and I opted for what is sometimes called 'oud' tuning (DADGad).

This tuning sounded epic, adventurous, folky, magical etc. I sat in my mates living room for a good hour playing on his dad's guitars before he started bombarding me with SBT videos on Youtube  ...which was less than pleasant...so I went back downstairs and jammed with his dad's guitars again :d

Are their any guitarists out there who have had similar experiences? And how has spice affected your playing ability?

SWIM only plays Bass Guitar but his ability to do so doesn't seem to suffer on Mushrooms (although he doubts it improves much either.) He agrees that is a hell of a lot of fun in the proper setting and has had some really cool instances of synesthesia while playing (such as Cymatic ripples on flat surfaces that appear and dissipate with the vibration of the strings.) For SWIM music is extremely profound on psychedelics whether he's an observer or a participant. :d

Sadly, SWIM cannot comment on the effects of Spice on his bass playing since he hasn't had the good fortune to obtain any yet.

Fair does PsiloCyborg :) Perhaps we should get the Nexus musical types together for an epic jamming session :D

What? A guy can dream can't he? ;)

From some of the experiences SWIM has had playing solo on psychedelics he's fairly sure that the Universe would rip apart and/or implode were such a jam session to take place.

Let's do this. :d

It'd be awesome. I'm organising a drum circle in my local area for Beltaine...should be good times. You a UK child?

Ive been learning the acoustic guitar for bit over a year now, and its awesome to play when tripping! one really gets much more sensitive to the sounds and harmonies.. Singing becomes quite better I think too.

I still dont play good enough to improvise too much like in a jam session, but who knows, maybe until nexus people get together at some point I will have improved enough for that :)

I reckon a Nexus jam would be awesome. It'd have to be organised really quietly though. Like absolute secrecy...members and trusted friends only.

I find that when I've had a shmoke on some reefer I play my best electric...down and dirrty blues with surf-like nuances :D But when I'm tripping I like my sounds to be a bit more folky, worldy, magical, bardic, trippyness :D

I would definitely go so far as to say that medicine does improve my playing ability. It's not just in my head either, other folks enjoy my playing much more when I have some divine aid :)

It helps if the sun is shining for some weird reason...I feel quite a close affinity with trees, so I guess the sunshine brings out the best in me ^^

Your playing will improve so long as you know when to take a break and how to practice. I find that if something is really difficult and I'm struggling with it, then it's best to chill for a while and come back to it. Stressless learning is effective learning for sure ^_^

I am also learning accoustic guitar at the moment. just a novice though:?
I can play keyboard though and also dj proffesionally so I am music minded.
hope I can pick the guitar up fast as Id like to write songs and play while tripping:lol:

It is one of the most awesome experiences ever :) If you already play keyboard then guitar shouldn't be too hard to understand. The principles are very much the same (triads and things...it's a one-handed piano). Once it becomes instinct it becomes easier to just let it flow through you ;)

I'm thinking about getting into wind instruments...I've got a flute that's been sat in my wardrobe for about 8 years. With a bit of practice and good luck I might even put Ian Anderson to shame :D

I usually jam on the electric inside, pure entheogenic (and sober) bliss :d

I'll play around with some dadgad tuning soon though thanks man! I just got an acoustic also and i think dadgad would be perfect for those woodland adventures as well :]

DADGAD is perfect for woodland adventures :) It's such a versatile tuning, it makes experimentation so much easier. Standard tuning can get a little rigid.

Glad you like it :D All the best for trippy forest experiences :)

Im a guitar player too, I really feel that I can be more musical when Im have smoked Ganja. I have to try your tuning, sounds great.
