They are interference patterns. And seem to originate within...well, everything! Not always there, sometimes flickering or undulating/twisting. Check it out:

I think a lot of common visuals could very well be an observation of the world working at a subatomic level with criss crossing wave patterns being the very diffraction that creates the world around us. It is even proposed that higher dimensions exist on a MUCH smaller scale than the world around us which could explain why we meet higher dimensional being in that little subatomic world know as hyperspace.

I think a lot of common visuals could very well be an observation of the world working at a subatomic level with criss crossing wave patterns being the very diffraction that creates the world around us. It is even proposed that higher dimensions exist on a MUCH smaller scale than the world around us which could explain why we meet higher dimensional being in that little subatomic world know as hyperspace.

I agree, however, obviously can't prove it. All I know is that I've seen some similar things both on DMT and when sober. Energy waves etc...

It also reminds me of a kind of fabric that I see when I close my eyes, covered in glyphs and geometric designs, it's constantly shifting, swirling and folding, the fabric comes together to form objects, people and scenes displayed as if a projection riding along the surface of the cloth before melting down to become one again.

I've observed the borders of objects shifting and tracers as nearly every OEV I've ever experienced. CEVs for me are either geometrical paterns or whole worlds: landscapes, rooms, people, entities, etc.
Whether paterns/shapes or worldly they start fuzzy and lacking detail but increasing in clarity with dose.

This thread reminds me of something interesting that happen to me waking up much slower than usual and being semi-dreaming for the first 15 seconds or so which prompted a discussion between me and my brother on visuals.

What happened is that each bunch of leaves on the rose-bush outside looked like a VERY ACCURATE form of a loony toons or tiny toons character no matter how hard I looked at it and it happened IMMEDIATELY even looking at 7-8 different spots, each a character.
I then sat up to change my perspective and this brought a small orang-ish glowing-glob of light from the street-light which lined up with two leaf-feet below.... tweety bird!

as I said this only happened for about 15 seconds or so and after 1 minutes I was only just-woke-up-groggy. This was after 4 days sober minus taking 50mg 5-htp daily at noon.

This loony-toon thing was the closest to on-going and not super-random and insignificant hallucinations I have really felt.
Personally I have only had 4 open-eyed hallucinations ever on psychedelics and they were very short and insignificant.
(visuals like walls flowing, color and light shifting and pasterns morphing in cyclical motions and stuff don't count)
This got me thinking.
1 on mimosahuasca: a bee
3 on benedryl:fruit fly, 2 snowflakes inside (never again, btw)
1 on 2c-b: a fly.
I have had 5 while either just waking or in sleep-paralysis.

Although I've seem entities, landscapes, >180 degree scapes of sublime morphining figures and everything you can think of in CEVs

My brother on the other hand has had hundreds or even thousands of Open-eyed-halucinations on psychedelics.

My take, and a theory:
The event described below is an example the the "cloud effect" the effect that people love to utilize looking at cloud-bunnies, cloud faces, etc.
This "cloud effect" it very much magnified in my demi-dream-state and others as well.
On psychedelics on the other-hand my cloud-effect is almost not effected. Even when I am coming down from breakthroughs on DMT and I open my eyes I see patterns flickering and morphing over the same-as-sober room. I see massive distortions in the borders of objections and see paterns appear on plain color back-drops
The cloud-effect being enhanced like the loony-tune event never seems to happen to me. I suppose everyone has an amount that it is increased and mine is near-zero.

There is a bunch more that I don't really know but I'm sure this is a long enough post anyway. Like to hear your takes on my event and theory!

My OEV's can be just as intricate and multidimensional as CEVs. I would not chalk these up to a cloud effect as they can be way too specific (like spitting images of Egyptian art). I do know what you mean when you talk of this cloud effect, and I think it probably comes into play at lower level hallucinations.

I never see visuals like that. The visuals and visions I get are highly ordered/structured geometries, landscapes, machines, entities etc..not swirly colors. Maybe if I am looking at a wall get sort of melty for a moment but still even that will usually have some sort of geometry to it and not really resemble those pictures.

2001: A Space Odyssey has scenes near the end with all the “trippy” colors, but it’s the scenes closer to the end, in the “bedroom” that remind me of some of my DMT visuals.

That last pic you have there gibran is eerily familiar. I've definitely had bookcases and beds with sheeting and pillows and all sorts of things that you would only expect to find in consensual reality (except made of light). Surprisingly, I get rooms of the sort on doses far below breakthrough.

I see that OP, both as the flickering light orbs that outline [or maybe create] the geometry of the normal environment in addition I see it sorta flash over my vision [in a direction] much like washing a car and the sun suddenly beams over the windshield flashing your eyes.

I wasn't trying to depict DMT visuals. I was just referring to "visuals" in a general sense.
