So SWIM has done two extraction's now with Acacia Confusca and hasn't been able to get good crystals to form. After every extortion there are aways plenty of crystals on the botom and sides but once SWIM starts scraping them up theres always goo under them giving SWIM a goo with lots of crystals in it as a final product. Maybe SWIM is not leaving it upside down in the freezer long enough after poring off the solvent? or maybe SWIM should have used whole bark instead of powdered? or maybe should put it in the fridge after freezer to not shock the crystals? SWIM has no problem with goo as it works amazingly but would like to have nice looking crystals for once, for prides sake.

Unfortunately I don't have an easy fix for you, but i thought i should let you know i've had similar experiences with ACRB(acacia confusa root bark) so you do not feel alone or like you're doing something wrong. I too have been using powdered root bark, and Cybs max-ion tek. The quality of the yields has been magnificent, but in particular after i do the Re-crystallization i tend to get off-white sticky waxy stuff. One thing i've done that at least drys it up to a point where i can maneuver it around more easily, is stick what i get in a little container that i then stick into a bigger seal-able container filled with dried silica beads. They absorb any free moisture. If those aren't available to you there are other desiccants you can get pretty easily(legal).

On another note, after my first freeze-precip i do tend to have more crystal-like structures to begin with that end up being a little gooey when i start scraping them.

After scraping this goo up, does it not harden into a waxy substance?

You should be able to re-x the goo/wax and then freeze precip after that.

Ive done a simple nomans tek (STB) on 200g of ACRB and didnt even freeze precip, i just evap'd the solvent and was left with very white crystal and no goo.

you probably won't just get crystals with Acacia. nothing wrong with the goo though, it gives the same effects as crystals, just a bit more difficult to measure dosage. the crystals are probably mixed in

I don't think the issue is powdered/shredded/whole bark. ACRB extract generally doesn't like to stay as a solid at room temperature (in my experience anyway). If the goo does eventually harden you will be left with a waxy solid rather than crystals.

The only way I've seen people get straight crystals out of ACRB is by using thicklight's tek. Basically it is just an A/B and you add heated solvent to the basic mix immediately after adding the lye so the slurry is still hot from the reaction with the lye. Theoretically you will get your solvent supersaturated; you want to decant it immediately before it cools down. Let it cool down at room temperature for 6-8 hours and you may get some crystals dropping out; pour off the rest of the solvent into another jar and freeze precipitate to get the rest.

Really though crystals are overrated, I'll take some full spectrum ACRB goo over some clear crystalline mimosa extract anyway.

SWIM uses ACRB and follows Cybs Salt Tek. He has had perfect success using this. Simply perform 1 defat prior to the salting step and follow from there.


I posted a thread about goo because I never saw this specifically mentioned. During the drying stage after the freeze precip, you want your enviornment to be as low in humidity as possible. Cool air and low humidity are key to avoiding goo. Even if you have some yellow-ish stuff (which would be goo) it will harden up nicely in a low humidity enviornment and be very easy to scrape. The less humidity the better. SWIM always has very very little yellow and a high amount of flakes/x-tals.

I wouldn't allow residual naphtha to evaporate in my fridge. I imagine you would be smelling it in there for a long time. Even if you maintain crystalline structure in the fridge there is a good chance it will turn to goo once it hits room temperature.

All i did was run a SIMPLE STB on 200g of ACRB, and i got my first ever evap that resulted in tons of crystal and like a dot of yellow goo.

- 1 Gallon glass jug
- 200g ACRB
- 3500-3750mL Arrowhead water
- 200g Lye

1) Combine bark with water in jug, shake to mix well.
2) add in 1/4 of lye to jar, wait a minute, add another 1/4, wait a minute, so on. STIR as well.
3) Let stand for 2-3 hours minimum.

Pulls:
1) 100mL Naphtha at 115F x 6 Times
- add naphtha
- mix/shake/tumble jug
- let separate 3 times
- Then decant naphtha.

Evaporate:
I did not freeze precip, i simply let evaporate in front of a fan which was outside so the cool temps seemed to help crystalize the DMT as it dried/evap'd.

You may only need 50mL pulls vs 100mL but that is somthing im testing. Im not sure if it will change the result i got.


Results:
WHITE crystal.

This took me a total of 1.5 hours of work at most. the rest of the time was waiting for the jug to base and the naphtha to evap.

Never used the fridge for anything. Swim has always just sucked the naphtha out into a dish and popped it in the freezer for about 15hrs, never has he evap'd with a fan. You get more goo from letting it sit out versus freeze preciping. Never fails freeze preciping. Once you decant the naphtha after the freeze precip and you let your dish dry out, in a new vessel, immediately put the naphtha back into the freezer for a few days, minimum 3, and you should be amazed at what you find.

Do you use distilled water or tap water?

The big jugs of distilled water form the store. SWIM's freezer might just not be cold enough and havent been letting it sit in there long enough, SWIM has some freezing right now and plans on letting it be there for 4 more days, maybe they just need to more crystalized, he usaly only lets it sit in there over night or 2 days.
