A bit about me: I’m a businessman with a desire to wear anything but a suit. Consciousness and mindfulness are my two main concerns in life, not the money. I’m a car nut through and through, I own a Veloster N that’s FBO with a hybrid turbo and I’m currently supercharging my 370Z Nismo on an 80 mm pulley. With my project car, building my shed in the backyard into a home office, starting a new job at the same time as my MBA, and with my first child in the way, experiencing a breakthrough felt like a must before all is said and done.
I’ve been dabbling with the idea of extraction for some time now. I’ve grown cubes for years but due to my medications, my tolerance to anything on the 5-HT2A receptor is ridiculous. My very first breakthrough happened about three years into experimenting with a half ounce of lemon tek (Penis Envy #6 from Milly Wyco) and even trying six tabs of Lucy I acquired on the street couldn’t compare. That dose was some of the smallest aborts and side pins from my first flush of my best batch I’ve ever grown on an automated monotub.
Fast forward to yesterday, I acquired everything necessary for a heptane run thinking it would be the best bet. I read a simple instruction guide from Reddit to get to an extraction at room temp, and after finding this forum I realized how important higher temps are for greater yield as well as the importance of freeze precipitation. My first yield at 100 g in 1500 mL of water and 100 mg of sodium hydroxide with 100 mL of heptane resulted in less than desirable yield. I managed to end with .26 grams, nearly wasting the materials used. I then carted it with PG and very small amount of VG just to sample, and it was remarkably good [no pricing talk!].
Breakthrough will be impossible at this stage, but I’m curious was ratios are best for someone with my tolerance. I’d love any input as I’m planning to attempt a more in depth tek today using heat for extraction.
