ok well my friend tells me that he's deffating his aqueous with xylene like he normally does....
after mixing (aqueous and NP are dialed in at 150F.) a weird pinkish fatty looking precipitate starts going to the bottom of his sep funnel... so theres 3 layers: pink precipitate on bottom then dark aqueous, and now clear xylene on top.
The only thing he has done different with this extraction that he never has done is that he applied zinc to the aqueous before hand. the ph was dropped to alittle under 3 and it was mixed for 4 hours at room temp... when done it was filtered through a buchner funnel with a 101 filter disk, then placed in fridge over night and filtered in the morning again with his buchner funnel execpt this time with a 103 (crystaline) filter disk.... so he's positive all zinc was removed.....
has anyone experienced a precipitate that goes to the bottom when deffating?
please help he's in the middle of it as we speak and doesnt know what he should do to continue...
