Heptane vs naphtha

Migrated topic.
'VOC compliant' in some areas of the world, but not all of them, so you'll have to be more specific.

Was "naphthalene" a typo/autocorrect fail? It's a solid, aromatic hydrocarbon formerly used in mothballs.

There are plenty of other solvents which can be used for extracting, but many of them will require one or more modifications to the extraction method depending on the solvent available. Not all of these methods will lead to aesthetically pleasing white crystals, but that's not necessarily a problem.

More to the point, there's a discussion on this matter here:
I live California so the Naptha here is VOC compliant. Once they change the recipe or made it compliant it no longer separates itself from mimosa / lye Sludge was trying to use the Naptha to pull the DMT crystals out of the sludge. Even when I tried different brands I got a little bit different effects but still failed. One time the lair separated from the sludge but when I put it in the Pyrex dish it was like waxy type substance it wouldn't crazy rap or dry out. [Mod edit: no talk about buying!] I'm trying to rework my recipe to include a different chemical to carry the DMT crystals. I just need to know which chemical should I use that would yield the highest and also not be all under par. If I'm going to make it I'm going to make it the best I can

I've chucked the bare bones of a post together here:

California VOC rules do rather seem to have urinated on your freedom fries however. Using ethanol might be your best course of action. Moonshining would complement the extraction of a controlled substance so very aptly, too.

Other than that, it either comes down to picking through the law to find exceptions and loophole, or travelling out of state to obtain proper solvents - without necessarily having any intention of returning.

i know several Cal-A-forna-Tukey residents that went to nevada to get naptha and one that was able to get it from jeffy bozzoos site

Thank you so much for answering my question. Also if I'm using heptane instead of naptha, do I use the same amount.
you might need a little more heptane, or an extra pull or two, as heptane typically dissolves less DMT than your average naphtha.

Is everyone aware that naptha is now V.O.C compliant. Naphthalene was perfect to use when I first started making Dmt, but now that it's V.O.C so compliant it now mixes with the lye so there is no layer on top to extract out of the jar. So, my question is to you all, what other solvent could be used in place of naptha the would have the best results overall?
To piggyback off of what Transform said, depends on where you are. For the USA, each state is different. You can find it in one state, but not another. I had to do some driving for mine.
