Herbs or medicines for vivid dreams?

I saw a thread on this

This got me wondering if anything for lucid dreaming exists. I got into DMT because I have always wanted to lucid dream and explore altered states of consciousness. I have always wanted to explore other worlds.

@northape You seem to be knowledgeable in this area, I ask kindly that you share some with me.

The most effective route for me was always a dream journal. It builds both dream awareness and recall like a muscle, especially long term. Meditating before bed helps to. Checking light switches and clocks while dreaming helps induce lucidity (light switches don't work and numbers look psychedelic). Once you realize you're dreaming your heart rate often spikes in excitement, waking you up, but spinning is known to help stabilize the dream for some reason.

Psychedelics and certain herbs can help as well, though it's been many years since I used herbs for this and I forget the details. I found psychedelics and harmalas/melatonin much more useful here than herbs but YMMV

First of all, forget about datura - it's not for lucid dreaming. It's the last plant one should work with.

I'm not a visual guy myself, but weeks after aya (and analogs) or mushroom sessions I have more lucidity and psychological content in my dreams. A number of times I had full-on psychedelic sessions in dream space that were indistinguishable from real ceremonies. I feel if you want to experience some magic, plant medicines are your best bet.

You seem to be from Europe, so there are many options available if you look hard enough. You can extract DMT, grow mushrooms, or maybe dive into ayahuasca and analogs.
All of them are much safer than datura and will bring lots of benefits into your life. Go slow, research it all beforehand, and ask questions. You're in good hands here on Nexus, and we have people who are experienced in every modality. When it comes to lucid dreaming, you can explore it alongside your psychedelic quest. For some people, it comes quite naturally.

I will remember my dream after the sleep! Say it out five times loudly before you fall asleep. It is a programming for your self, helps to remember.
When you have a memory, write it down. Memoryes fade, so write right after the dream! Sleeping periods happen 1,5-2 hour, so wake up even at night if you can!
Read the journal a few weeks later. It helps you to feel, that you really can do remember.
Do reality tests at daytime, routinely! Do it until the test appears into your dream when sleeping! Fortunely you wake up into your ,,dream environment,, which you will be able to form, build, even fly above etc.
I tried blue lotus tea a few times before sleep. Not working for me yet.

I am based in US and I have noticed more vivid dreams since I extracted freebase dmt. I however cannot manage to breakthrough. It is strange for me and I fear I am doing something wrong. I feel as if I keep burning my dmt somehow. At first I was trying a soda lime glass vial and it was very poor to say the least.

Now that I made the machine I have had more success but I still can’t breakthrough. I smoke and I see what feels like a glass in between me and what lies beyond.

So I want a more reliable method that will allow me to “break” the glass. My issue is that I hit my machine and by the time I go for another hit I am already too high. However it is never a breakthrough amount. I get very close but I feel as if something was stopping me.

I am looking into possibly trying pharmayusca which I understand to be a plant with a MAO inhibitor and dmt. I feel as if this will allow better dosing.

With smoking I feel as if it is unpredictable since I sometimes burn more dmt and sometimes I don’t. So sometimes I receive great effects from 15 mg while sometimes 30mg gets me less effects.

One time I smoked 500mg in a single sitting spread out over a couple hits and only managed a mild high where I felt the walls breathe.

This was when I was using my soda lime glass vial.

That's a good source of information if you want to make vaping your main practice. You can try the oral route, but go slow and be prepared for a heavier session.
Harmalas add a strong somatic element to the experience, and the journey lasts much longer. Why not look into mushrooms? I feel they'd be a good fit for you.

Keep a dream journal and do reality check/tests such as pulling a finger (in dream it might stretch or something), trying to breath through a plugged nose (in dream you will breathe through your plugged nose), or looking at something and looking away and looking back again (people's faces, objects, clock; all will change on the second look and check if things look right to you, try to notice distortions)

As for herbs

Silene capensis (African Dream Root) helps with dream recall memory and very small amounts are used in the morning. It takes a month to build up into your system and start working

Synaptic kirkii, Calea zachatechichi (Bitter Dream Herb), Entada rheedii (African Dream Bean) all increase lucidity.

FWIW, I got a really good, vivid dream session after just the right dose of harmala tea and a microdose of mimosa tincture immediately before going to bed last night:
It's a bit of an omission on my part that accurate dosage information is not possible for this session, that being a victim of circumstances.

Not having a [cell]phone in the bedroom may have helped - based on my experiential observations, I think those things can contribute towards waking up from dreams.

I can’t buy a vape like that unfortunately due to some personal reasons.

I was also thinking about mescaline extractions and mushrooms would be nice. A large concern of mine is drug testing for work as I drive semi trucks. I can’t take anything that lingers for too long.

Legality is somewhat a concern but the odds of police getting in my house without notice is very low I am willing to deal with things like DMT. Goes to say I would not be comfortable ordering anything in its illegal form. MHRB is fine because it is legal in its tree bark form.

I am deeply fascinated with the spiritual and occult. I believe it reveals the truth of this world we live in. Even if it leaves you with more questions than answers.

I had very vivid dreams after drinking about 1L of strong salvia tea (more like a decoction), sipping it slowly so it was absorbed buccally. The effects while awake were not too strong at all, but at night I had about 10 colorful and vivid dreams.

It was about 12 years ago, so sadly I don't remember the amounts for the decoction.

Presumably Salvia divinorum and not one of the other 2000 species of salvia, like S. officinalis or S. sclarea?

Edit: I mean, chances are that more than a few of them might do very interesting things, even excluding the salvinorin-positive species.

Yes, I should have made it more clear. It was Salvia divinorum.

I have tried quidding low doses before bedtime more recently and I didn't see an impact on dreams, and I would say the effects were stronger. So I wonder if it was actually related to the salvia or just a coincidence. It seems like too much of a coincidence, so maybe drinking a large amount as a tea (as opposed to a different ROA) played some role in it

I've had one dream that counted as most nearly lucid that I can recall. This was after I woke up in the night and my Coleus plant dropped a large leaf mere moments later. Chewing that leaf is what I consider to have effected the subsequent lucid dream. This was a standard red/green/purple variegated variety of coleus with normal leaf margins, rather than the more clearly salvinorin active green/white variegated sort or one with more deeply jagged edges (ftr).

In relation to that, for a few weeks back in the day I tried smoking caapi leaf (or sometimes a mild changa) mixed with salvia leaf before bed. It was very relaxing and seemed to enhance my dreams from what I remember, more so than caapi or changa alone.

One method that seemed to reliably work for lucid dreams was to take a lower dose of harmalas (somewhere in the 50mg range IIRC) with a large dose of melatonin, and then listen to binaural beats in bed. A decent percentage of the time, I would find myself in a dream with headphones still on my head. When I took the headphones off (in the dream), the sound would still be coming through the walls of whatever room I was in, and that would be the clue for realizing I was dreaming. I haven't tried it in years and it might not work for others, as this was during several years of frequent harmala/melatonin usage etc.
