Has anybody had any experiences on this? Any directions on how to acheive this? Thoughts and input.

I read a bit about this a few years back. Basically, it involves something similar to hyperventilation, in a controlled setting. Lack of CO2 due to the rapid breathing results in a change in blood pH. This has an effect on consciousness, producing a somewhat altered state.

Maybe its just me but I got the impression that the only reason Grof started using this was because the use of consciousness-altering drugs became illegal throughout most of the world. Not that holotropic breathwork was better, but basically it was a "last resort" because of drugs becoming illegal. Not saying it doesn't work, but to me it seemed like a poor 2nd if other means (drugs) are available. Note that I have not actually done holotropic breathwork or witnessed it in person - this was just my impression based on reading accounts of it and may be incorrect.
