Honey locust forrest HELP (gpa made a portal)

Long story short my grandad moved to the country and planted a forest, he died before I was born. The year I was born, he had planted a honey locust tree on the property which is now like a mini forrest.

Upon discovering this I went down a rabbit whole to discover the entire forest is sacred plants all pointing towards a heaven/earth/sky connection portals and protection and divinity.

Now normally whatever; but im part cherokee. And an old Cherokee legend about these trees got me all over the place here cause it lines up SCARILY with my life.

Upon this discovery; ive realized my point in life. This was a gift and intentionally made for the divine of the family to access; my grandad knew a lot about plants and was a freemason; nobody else in the family knows nor cares enough about them yo learn all this...but I feel it's my duty to speak to the trees who have protected me for years. The trees who gr4e with me, the god that grew around me.

I know very little of how to harvest the root bark, how much is in what parts of the plants but I can do the extraction. Really looking for guidance here, as I plan to only take off the branching trees moy the mother trees, but I don't want to waste whats there.

Should I do the pods and the bark? Or jsut say fuck I and take down the entire dying tree and mulch it?

Ive been q psychonaut for a long time, astral protected and always been drawn 5o HERE no matter where i was. This forr4st has something special for me, too many coincidences...

I know im typing like a madman but I csnt speak how I want to speak because of the crackdown in general online. Please if someone vould give me guidance I'd be forever grateful. I mainly want to make a changa as while I did plenty of salvia inbthr day, dmt I haven't touched as I believe it would find me when I was ready....

Well, it found me. Now how do I refine it

Hi there and welcome. That's an interesting situation you find yourself in!

We have a couple of threads specifically about that tree:

A search for the term 'gleditsia' turns up a few more mentions in passing.

It's still rather a work in progress, but it seems inner root bark will be the most viable source of active medicine.

There are two varieties; apparently the one with much longer thorns has a higher alkaloidal concentration.

Extraction methods should be much the same as for root bark from other species.

Given that you have a forest of clones to work with, that's a great opportunity to analyse the content of each and every separate part of the tree over the course of the seasons. If you're serious about this, it would be helpful to familiarise yourself with thin layer chromatography:
along with plenty more information in that subforum:

Of course, you can just extract the rootbark and hope you've been blessed with an active specimen - be sure to let us know either way, and best of luck!

Very serious , this has been my hyperfixation in general for years I just hadn't realized what a gold mine i was sitting on. Going through the forrest, I have plants containing phenylyhamines, I have Mao b and mao a inhibitors, and in a very shroomg place (though, I haven't found magical ones on my property besides an amanita one yime a decade ago)

I feel it's my calling lol. I just don't know shit about analyzing stuff, don't have a lab, and I'm trying to not poison myself.

At the moment, I gathered a handful of the root of one of the smaller trees itself, some root bark, some tree bark, the reddest nettle i could find, and been gathering all the green seed pods and letting them dry/naturally brown as they dry.

I really don't want legal trouble either, but seeing as the lack of research in this field despite clear evidence of it working; woth the opportunity i have its kind of a no Brainer. Idk what the hell my grandad was up to; but when I know he made wine a lot...and I have his old freemasonry books; my dad thinks it's a coincidence and that there's no way my grandad would do thst but idk; I know i never met the man but the amount of coincidences and things lining up in my life just tell me that it's not true. It feels like I finally connected to something those who wete in the know would know....im no witch, my family hates witchcraft; but a witches foreest doesn't just appear out of no where....

Curious what yous suggest I do as far as home labbing? The most I've ever done before is the most ghetto ass setup to perform alkaloid extractions on kratom and salvia (most sage plants are psychoactivr in some way, I found how to take advantage of that)

Thinking of chopping one of the baby trees down entirely (they overhand where i mow) and using that yo be able to really see what this tree is made of; but unsure how that would affect t the trees around it. Theres some small ones though thst are genuinly in the way and I could remove pretty easily

I have found a plethora of these but yes..need to make sure it is not black locust & instead, actually honey locusts.

I wish someone could get down to business on extract and trying this out/identifying the actual molecule(s)

I am busy finding a young small tree to uproot since cutting big old trees down seems way messed up..I wish we could find out more info - like the seeds, makes me wonder what else may be active?!?

It's easy enough to tell black locust and honey locust apart. Black locust has short pods, bigger leaflets, and short thorns (<1"). Honey locust has long thorns 2"-14", small leaflets, and long pods ~12"

Their bark, growth habit/outline shape, and "character" are all quite different as well. Once you get to know them they're impossible to mix up :)

Oh I have gotten to know the look quite well, and they seem to be everywhere..even as a kid I used to walk all over these huge pods and avoid the thorns while exploring the woods.

I just need a smaller one, to get that root!

Honestly though if the pods are just as strong that would be great, but who knows??

Yes we need more experimental data on G. Triacanthos for sure

SWIM will be bioassaying some stem bark and crushed thorns before too long

Unfortunately, SWIM is pretty ignorant of chemistry and extractions beyond the simple aqueous and ethanolic

Would like to say that is what im planning to do since this is an unserstudied plant for some reasin and given my heritage and the legends associated with the trees its my duty to do what I can before the land is destroyed or lost to time;

Although this yeae is special. After making this post, and having issues finding the mother tree (its confirmed honey locusts as my grandma told me about them before she passed, and ive asked farmers and arborist around me what they thought with irl spike specimens, the thorns have been as long as 8 or 9 inches and as small as 3 inches but I used ti collect them as a kid the big ones at least because it looked like a "skeleton of a pinecone" to me, but the spikes are bigger than my hands most of the time)

I have reed grasses but tbh that science has been...sciencest...once I saw the potential I had in front of my eyes my entire life I realized I could help solve some questions psychonaut and scientist and shamans and historians of native legends have wondered for hundreds of years; since the tree from a lot of legends that 'glows" and stuff is never explicitly stated; but given my family and the land and the...honestly obscene amount of sacred plants growing around my property (which was genuinely not even a plan i noticed it when I was foraging onr day and jt kept getting more and more like "oh ok I have a pharmacy of plants in my backyard cool" then I had a uv light for some painting I was doing and noticed so much more that made me rememver some legends .

Update tho: 3 new saplings have sprouted THIS year! And using their locations, and lining them up with the trees they could have been offshots from with the root bark system; i am down to only having 3 or 4 trees that I can confidently say are mother trees; and one of the trees that I was worried about hasnt sprouted enough for me to confidently say next year he will be alive- so that tree is not only NOT the mother tree, its also at an age where I can cut it down and prepare for different types of extracts to really understand every part of the tree.

Butttt this leads to my next question. I know how alkaloids work, and an older bugger and near the end of its days tree will still have a lot of alkaloids but weather, age, and season all change how those alkaloids are expressed or if they are present at all.

Should I be trying to extract from a sapling thats smol since its 90% red bark still, or should I do the older one? Id assume the younger ones would be more concentrated, however different levels of toxic alkaloids as well while the older one will have more over all due to age but more material over all; but ive never worked with this specific type of alkaloids from trees i usually did kratom and poppy and san pedro and like california poppy stuff like that- the trees have always been a bigger task to begin with and worried about killing them all.

Imma harvest the dying onr since it won't affect the others clearly; but what shpuld i do for my next step? Personally, I think it just being in the root bark or inner bark of thr tree makes little sense to me because trees grow layer by layer ; meaning every ring will have some ampunt of the alkaloids present before it was covered and replaced by another ring...im new to the tree ones so is thst just an insanely wrong assumption or?

I alao plan on making a custom guitar out of the wood of some of these trees when the project is nearing its conclusion but imma be here for a few years; here and there. Biggest issue for me maintaining an enviorment for doing the extractions but I have a shed and a plan;

Know how to ab already and know other more basic extraction methods to a T; but what do you think i should do?

I REALLY want to help bring the sacred life of our world to light any way I can; im not Christian or any specific religion I just have seen the trees talk and the birds gossip too much to not help with, what I consider, some of the most important research in our world- pharmacology of plants- because thats where our fake pharmacy shit comes from originally.

I also heard there is N-Methylphenaline in some parts of the plants? I personally have adhd and know that that potentially could be used as a methylphenidate replacement or precursor in some ways hopefully not as strong as thr synthetic stuff- but I just need guidance towards the next steps at the moment.

I plan to do extracts on every part of the plant entirely aeperate from one another, and a dual extract on the seed pods one with JUST the pod part one with JUST the seeds from inside the pod and one with the entire pod and seeds; leaves done seperately as well as thorns being done seperately from inner bark, outer bark will be done seperately as well as I can (out of curiosity mostly on the outer bark) and the inner bark i was planning a kava kava like shredded wood slury and filtered soaked betwren straining like 2 to 3 times, to get a mason jar of just inner bark extracts; then reduce it doen to a normal ampunt of liquid and send it to a lab because again this plant is weirdly researched a lot but also barely at all..

If you want the science done, I do too. I have almost everything I could possibly need to do it and a knowledge base of psychonauticsl extractions and backyard hippie chemistry from my past life- i just need guidance on how to do this PROPERLY so we can get viable and respected data because I will not rest (like die rest imma sleep dw) until the science is clear...

Feels like they did all the scienfr for the plants everywhere but america all the way through and then half asses american plants so that ppl didnt realize something ngl... why is mimmosa hostillis so insanely researched when almost every other plant in the family has had some research and the scientist went "eh its only 1% who cares" and stopped as if 1% is the limit? Look at thc from the 70s to the thc of today on the magical herb ee call weed...i dont think the contents are low as people say or think I think our cultivation and destruction of thr natural grasslands in america has stunted the growth if natural plants here because of changes in soil...I know that idea is vibes based bit man...the grasslands got wrecked by the pilgrims and half the plants out there are actively invasive and destructive to the healthy plains grasses... that HAD to lead to nitrogen in soil changing and calcium levels dropping AND bison who grazed.... I think these plants are being stunted by our ancestors tbf

Would swim like to talk to swaim because im doing the same, would like to talk not...here; internet changed over the years. Unless you know of this site before the changes you wont naturally find it, same with erowid and bluelight. I'm here for the science and sacred trees tied to some ancestors; but I need swim to help swaim so I can do things the right way and helpful way.

A is for also
B is for botanicals
C is for codex

I have plants up the wazoo, and a lot more than what ive mentioned here, and some that need science that nobodies gotten done as well
