How do you rue veterans tolerate the taste?

Migrated topic.
Blueberry juice huh? How many different things did you try before you figured that one out? :)

I'll try anything if it works.

Sucks to hear you say it doesn't get any easier.....oh well.....I guess that is the price to pay for the experience.

For the record I never actually tried this, but how about icing and crushing into a daiquiri with some juice? It will be slightly sweetened, won't get all over your mouth, but will melt on the way down so in effect its still more efficent than capping.

I really want to try this but I can't take psyches for a while :(

Well mechanically its no different from tea, its just the question of whether freezing it will hold enough taste out of the mouth before you get it down.

Would you put your theory into practice and post results in vomit reduction?? 😉

My gut feeling is that it wouldn't work.

I tried putting it into some strawberry jello one time thinking that it would mask the taste....well...it didn't...if I think about eating that jello I can almost make myself throw up.....serious.

Surely if the jello was just a small shot it'd still be better than tea though, right?

Umm, that could have been the problem. I made half a box of jello and poured the rue into it. I should have used only enough jello to swallow in one go.

Man did it taste fucking horrible.....get chills just thinking about it.

drink more ayahuasca and cactus brews first. no, in general i plug my nose and chug as much as i can in one go, assuming I know the strength of the tea 'n whatnot.

lol I wasn't really looking for a way to mask the taste, I just use random juices as chasers. My dad had some blueberry juice and I just tried it out and it totally worked. I don't even know where he got it, and I've never seen it again.

I DON'T recommend putting it in any liquid as it will simply make the whole volume of drink taste like harmal. Unless it is way dilute... and even that is theoretical and I doubt it would work. I have just come to accept how bad it tastes/smells when ground. I can barely make tea as the kitchen smells like it and I want to puke the whole time.

But you know, it's weird - I don't think the harmala has ever made me puke below the 4gram dosage mark. Above that and I am for sure purging many times... and if the dose is above 4.5 for me then it's a nausea I can't effectively puke out.

Just a thought. The trick is not minding the taste by tricking yourself into thinking the taste is pleasant, or no to little taste at all.

Easier said than done. I don't think you can use mind over matter on this one. Stuff is so bad. I can't get over how bad it taste. You know it is gonna taste bad when just smelling it almost makes you throw up.

i reduce the brew so each full dose can fit on a spoon, put some fruit juice in my mouth, throw the spoon as far back as i can and with the other hand chase it with more juice as it goes in and i open my throat

you barely taste it at all, and its only for a split second

i also often put up to a gram in big fruit smoothies and you don't taste it at all that way actually

I really dont get what the whole deal is. I could swish this stuff around in my mouth for 5 minutes and it would not make me gag. It's just bitter but its not THAT bad. Reduce to a teaspoon like said above and shoot it back. Chase with juice if you must.

well, everyones just different..taste is such a subjective thing afterall

many people would projectile vomit on the spot if they tried to swish it around in they're mouth for ten seconds, much less five minutes 😁

once you develop a big aversion/gag reflect to something like that it can be very hard to just over-ride it. i dont have one for rue thankfully, but the taste is still perrrty wretched to me even though i've had it hundreds of times. the smell though just gives me goosebumps for some reason :)

but in the end..a brief bad tasting schwig of liquid is just a trivial entry fee for working with these plants- and i think its odd that some look at it as this big barrier

A friend of mine came up with the technique of plugging your nose, inhaling, taking the shot, drinking some chaser, then exhaling and unplugging your nose. By managing your airflow like that, you keep the scent from reaching your olfactory areas, and avoid a hell of a lot of the bad taste... Drinking ayahuasca used to be a really difficult process for me (just physically drinking it), but his way of doing things was totally painless! You could drink a shot of anything that way.
