How do you rue veterans tolerate the taste?

yeah see, i was brewing a few nights and my roomate all the way upstairs was still appalled by the smell :d
extracted and recrystallized harmalas = virtually tasteless (rue taste) They taste like any other bitter alkaloid.. (but not as good bitter as caffeine)
had about 2 grams of rue last night..it was down to less than a tablespoon of liquid. i just stuck the spoon towards the back of my throat, threw it back, and quickly followed it with a bit of water..tasteless :]
