I made some tea from about 20g MHRB about 3 months ago. It sat in the fridge in a sealed mason jar for about 2.5 months and has been in my air-conditioned room for the past week.

Is this safe to drink? Would boiling make it so? There is quite a bit of plant matter still in it.

Thanks!

I certainly wouldn't consume anything like that if it had been sitting around that long (maybe if it had been in the freezer).

My reluctance would purely be from a bacteriological point of view. Problem is, some bacteria can produce toxins that can withstand a boiling (and, for that matter, some bacteria can produce SPORES that can withstand a boiling--but not TWO boilings separated by an hour or so).

Personally, I wouldn't risk it. Next time, if you wanted to store it that long you should probably freeze it (or store it in the freezer).

I store aya brews for like 2 or 3 months at a time..always have done it that way. In a glass bottle in a cold fridge in the basement. It's not uncommon at all. The diame churches I am preaty sure do not brew they're aya on site(not outside of South America anyway)..it's shipped and stored. I ALWAYS boil it though before drinking...but thats cappi and chali, not mimosa.

Yes, I always heard the traditional way to store ayahuasca was to bury it, from a couple months up to a decade (). It' supposed to increase the potency.

This batch has been well refrigerated for 3 months, and kept in a frigidly air-conditioned room for the past week.

It's going back into the fridge until I get some hard answers. And it I do decide to drink it, it will be well-boiled at least twice.
