Hungry after Using Psychedelics?

Migrated topic.

Previously when using psilocybin, I have noticed I am always very hungary and eat a lot as the trip is ending. I always attributed this to the fact that I had not eaten anything all day (I always take psilocybin on an empty stomach to avoid nausea). But I've noticed on two days now when I've used DMT that I end up hungry and eating a lot an hour or two after the experience. And in both cases, I had eaten normally earlier in the day.

Has anyone else noticed that psychedelics stimulate their appetite?

Sometimes, yes, intensely--there is nothing better than devouring the flesh of a wet and sloppy mango oozing orange nectar that vibrates against a giant pit that glows and throbs with the mystery of the universe. Eating in a state of grace with total awareness and gratitude is magic. Throwing that mango pit outside, back to the earth, brings an amazing sense of peace and awareness of the cycle of life. Fresh, organic food in an unchanged state as possible whips up all kinds of primal feelings. Eating fruit, especially, is a great way to reaffirm a presence in the erotic and creative forces of nature.

Other times, though, ego is so shattered that it is best to fast and spend the next day contemplating in solitude.

(My memoirs, when I write them, will be called, "Sex, Drugs, and Raw Food." :p )

the mango sounds ...amazing....

i usually find myself in need of a huge feast after a day of exploring and using all my energy on tripping.... but thats more of an acid experience where you're cruisin for 12ish hours! not so sure about dmt

I always find myself wolfing down some yummy treat while and on the come down on LSD and mushrooms.

My wife and I would find a nice carvery and get stuck in while tripping. Also nice sweet juicy fruit tastes just amazing.

It's very important to correct your blood/sugar levels before, during and after a session with psychedelics. Which is why it's such a sweet reward.

With tryptamines I like something with bread that's very nourishing, but with phens I liked fruits and Ice cream :) yum yum

Also, beforehand--doesn't Vitamin C potentiate mushrooms? and probably a lot of things? It helps with absorption in general.

I know, in the case of Ayahuasca, sometimes a few nibbles of food can deepen the experience, sometimes violently...

Glucose (fruit sugar) is the only other substance on earth metabolized as rapidly as DMT by the brain, isn't it?

Does anyone know if this is a physiological effect of the psychedelics themselves, or is it just that you use a lot of energy during a session (much like doing any demanding activity)?

Supposedly consuming psilocybin (such as dried mushrooms) with citrus juice leads to a shorter but more powerful trip. Some people use lemon juice. I've never tried that. I did try orange juice once and didn't notice any difference at all vs. consuming in chocolate.

Freshed squeezed juice is certainly a tasty addition. ;)

Sometimes when I am hungry, I do feel like I just performed a lot of physical activity and need to replenish. It's not like "munchies," it's like, the body is having a deep need satisfied and is very grateful.

Yep both mental and physical exersize burns energy and will increase your appitite. But it's really person dependant. Just like some people get hungry after sex......
