I've never broken through either, for the same reason.
I've gone mad on mushrooms, dropped gluttonous amounts of acid, even smoked pcp like it
was going out of style..but nothing terrified me more than the prospect of being blasted through inner space, hyperspace.

You'll get through, and when you do, I'll be jealous and project hate rays in your direction

Eeeee . . . You definitely shouldn't be tasting any solvent! That's a big no-no. Cleanly vaped spice is like flowery air. The taste is actually quite pleasant.

Once you get that shit cleaned up I'd suggest you make some changa pronto. Get some caapi leaf to add to the mix, that way there will be a MAOI in the mix and you won't have to worry about smoking a full dose in under a minute: you can ease your way there, taking puffs from the bong as you see fit. Take a hit, lay down and see what you're feeling, that there is in fact nothing to fear, sit up and take another hit. You can do this all night (though I usually only smoke for three hours or so, I find that's plenty of time to get some solid work done). Or just take a MAOI (caapi, rue, whatever) and freebase away. I never vape plain freebase anymore, it's always changa changa changa, and pharma. I don't really get anything out of plain freebase other than a "What the fuck was THAT?" type reaction. Slow it down and extend it with a MAOI and you'll truly fly.

It would be very simple if it wasn't for the freakin heartbeat during onset. Well... when I think about it - is it real? Or is it like with weed when you just think that your heart is going crazy when in fact there's nothing to worry about.
 
Yeah that's how I feel.

Anyone who wants to dive right in, go for it, hope you can swim, healthy relationship with self, etc. But me, I came a bit shell shocked, others might just be hesitant after those first couple visions and body sensations. This is normal. But keep up the interest, the work, don't let yourself fall off the horse and say fuck that. I've got some toluene pulled jungle/spice (peanut butter brittle consistency taken a few light hits on it, melts nicely) that I'm planning to mix with a 20x caapi (just a tenth of the mix), add peppermint and mullein, maybe rue and I'll have some real medicine I feel.

But I'm looking forward to a music session, a lounge chair, and a bag of Changa, and a beautiful day. If you feeling scared, do some other things to shake yourself up a bit. Say something you normally wouldn't, grab a bug, give your voice an accent or oddity and use it at the drive thru, anything that might make you excited a bit. Get used to the pounding heart.

edit, yeah, got to get that stuff cleaned up, solvent removed. I noticed with my toluene evap the product collected was oily and runny for the first week almost. I froze the goo, let it sit in a jar loosely covered, and a week later it was much more dry. And remember, you are facing the unfathomable and life changing infinite, heh, or so I hear, it will be hard to convince yourself to do it, but it sounds worth it huh?

Yes, DMT is known to raise blood pressure. In fact during one of Rick Strassmans trials a subject got such a high pulse that they had to suspend him from the trials, apparently the alarm was going off on the blood pressure cuff while he was tripping, and that only made things worse.
But don't let this scare you, for a healthy person it should not be a problem, honestly its probably more from your anxiety than anything else. I would recommend some meditation before hand. Take very deep breaths, filling your diaphragm, to oxygenate your blood. Remember to keep taking those breaths during the trip. You should be fine, and I'm sure you'll have a great experience once you take the plunge :d
And, btw I'm pretty sure weed has this effect too, your heart may not be "going crazy" but your pulse is high, usually over 100, try it sometime. Check your pulse before you smoke and then after and you will notice it is much higher, nothing dangerous, just one of the effects.
 
IME, there is no need to concentrate on taking deep breaths whilst in the trip-simply have faith in your brainstem to look after this side of things.

The heart-rate thing is perturbing for some, but its all relative. There are other substances which can cause a more impressive tachycardia than DMT.If your heart is in good shape with no past history of problems then its best, IMO, to not focus too much on it.
 
When it comes to DMT, respect is healthy. As it WILL obliterate you.

Fear, on the other hand, is bunk. You are afraid of yourself and what you are capable of. With this fear overruling you, you will never know what lies on the other side of your self.

There is only one way to know. And there are infinite variations.
