a friend of a friend sent him some pictures of a naptha evaporation. from what ones been told he used coleman brand fluid from walmart for the extraction. he checked the evap dish 3 days later and found that what was left had turned into a green sludge. any idea or is that normal. freeze precipts are usually done, evaporation was a new thing. only brightness and contrast we adjusted due to bad lighting in the room. [img:2f6ea89092]http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/8052/lyeoz4.jpg[/img:2f6ea89092] from what hes said, the majority of the crystals were removed in an earlier freeze precip and this was the left overs from a second removal attempt mixed with a failed qt tek p. viridis attempet all rolled into one final evap. he isnt quite sure what the dots were, but they werent crystals. however, this green sludge has a familiar smell thats the same as the inside a vapobulb after awhile, or so Im told.

I would trash that immediately man. There's no reason for your friend to put something like that in his body. It isnt normal and regardless of the indole smell that could be a toxin.

he says thanks for the info and help and thats what he'll probably end up doing. hes in the process of finding a new vendor to continue experimentation.

Just be safe and follow proper lab procedures or risk fire/explosion

Drano ..?! Thank god for this Forum ! Some one actually smoked that .. !?! And I thought all fuels sold in metal containers (like Coleman brand) have to include anti-rust agents ? SWIM found Coleman fuel from the gallon-sized can will leave bad residues. ! Oddly this is so - I guess water will collect and condense in all metal containers, like camping stoves and the metal containers the fuel is sold in .. Yuck ! Ronsonol comes in 375ml plastic bottles - in Canada this brand seems clean too.

thanks to everyone for their advice and opinions. the friend of a friend meant a new vendor for mhrb, not the colemans. question though, whats this xylene that people keep mentioning ? is that the brandname too ? and so regular ronsonol works for defat as well as freeze precipts ? what would be the largest yeilding fluid ? on occasion when the friend of a friend has me write these, its often late at night and he cant remember things that he normally knows. sometimes ones brain just pauses for a moment.

shit, maybe it was toluene, or something spelled similar to that. my friends friend thought the toluene was the toxic one to avoid. anyways, he is looking for the solvent with the most extraction power. if xylene is the toxic one, then its out, so that would leave: so heptane or bestine or toluene which would be best, are they that much better than just your average ronsonol exactraction ? .

Evap it and see. Reports I've heard say Ronsonal leaves yellow shit behind. Blue Halo - dude, a little research, huh? Toluene and xylene pull pretty much the same crap (red), they're both nasty, xylene is nastier and toluene evaporates faster. Bestine [i:0eee3f71ac]is[/i:0eee3f71ac] heptane, its very selective and mainly pulls white DMT. Evaporates and freeze precips very quickly. It's also expensive and hard to find.

from what you said, it appears that bestine/heptane is the best alternative to naptha then. some sort of hobby shop or hardware store should carry it then, one would assume. all of this is like learning ot ride a bike, just a little tricky at first. when you get wrapped up in one thing, you can accidently forget about others.
