What a day, what a day

I just had a skype session with Rabbi Joel Bakst -- the aptly named Psychedelic Rabbi who appears on the DMT: The Spirit Molecule documentary, and discusses the role of DMT in shaping Jewish spiritual beliefs/traditions.

I had sent him a pretty long email about ideas I had had relating to the Jewish people, and the potential use of DMT as a sacrament in their past, in the form of Syrian Rue and Acacia.

While he pretty much told me that he had no knowledge of the Jews using Acacia (though he also had no knowledge of Acacia housing DMT), that he is certain that the Jews had a means to cause their bodies to produce it naturally. They were well aware of the pineal gland as the seat of the soul, and the activation of it to produce visionary states, and draw wisdom from the cosmos.

One of the ways DMT is through sex, he says. That through meditation of the pineal, through a jewish form of Tantra, we reestablish the Adamic human – the first man, but not in a gendered way, but in the unification of spirit. A whole human, both male and female in energies. Moral of the story – go get some, with a nice jewish girl.

We also discussed a great deal of other things, and naturally, like any scholar who has had years and years of honing his discipline, he told me I was wrong in all of my theories -- however, he did invite me to talk to him again, and dispute his assertions.

For one, he says that the Jews have no living tradition, and that to his knowledge there is no living tradition of DMT use in the middle east. This I do not agree with, as the research of another scholar describes encounters with tribal peoples in Jordan, who still use the Arabic version of aya, through Acacia and Rue. Currently I am talking to this other scholar, in hopes to find some good information for my rebuttal.

There are still many questions I have for him, and many answers that I left off of this post, but we have another session in the works, so that I may continue picking his brain on some topics.

Anyways, that is my day -- my mind is blown away that I was actually able to talk to this guy!
