hi all mates! i'd ask you if you've ever tried to extract kanna alkaloids with an a/b extraction or in another way..my plants are growing well and i'll have some material to work with in a few months ( i'm waiting spring to harvest my material) :)

any suggestion about performing an extraction with this plant?

thank you all!

Hey DimiTriX

I've only worked with fermented, dried, ground kanna. My live ones are too cute to harvest.

I'm from South Africa so there's an abundance of it here. You have to ferment it to get the toxins out and make it more active - I'm sur eyou are familiar with the technique if you are cultivating them.

I find working with a gloopy mess of smelly kanna to be a bit troublesome, so I always dry and grind it. I usually harvest mine from a large patch that grows a few hundred km's from here, so I know the potency varies. I've done 1 A/B extration attempt, but work got in the way and when I checked on my jars again they looked like little jungles for all the mould that had grown inside them.

I then just did a straight acetone soak of 100grams powder for a week and then evaporated that over 1 gram of powder. This seems to be a nice, pleasant experience with appetite suppression and a very alert feeling. lso my vision seems to improve making the world much sharper. At the moment this is satisfactory for me. But I would love to do more work on it. I have a friend who did an A/B extraction, but a small line inssufflated of his "crystals" was milder than 1 pipe of my extract smoked, and a pipe of his was almost non-existent. So I don't know if there's a trick to extracting kanna.

I am also concerned that mesembrine and the other alks in kanna could be a bit potent if isolated considering the effects I get from a simple acetone extraction.

Would love to hear other ideas on this. It has been something I've thought long and hard about.

Peace

thank you a lot primalwisdom! how do you ferment your kanna? you just put in a plastic bottle and than under the sun for a week? tek please! ;)

I use a ziplock bag, wash the kanna, stick it in the bag and beat the dylights out of it with a wooden rolling pin. I then leave the bag in the sun for a week - a week and a 1/2 until it smells nice and funky. I let the gas/vapours escape daily or as the bag fills up. Once I'm satisfied it's good. I dry in the sun for a few days. then grind it up.

Peace
