LDPE for siphoning naptha?

I know HDPE is preferred if plastic is to be used but can LDPE siphon naphtha(as long as contact is brief)? SWIM has a batch almost ready to pull and was wondering.

Yes, it will work. Do not suck the tube. Fill it with distilled water, then it will siphon itself with no sucking. Wash your tube immediately after use.

You will probably get more out if you use a baster though. Siphoning is best for large extractions in large carboy or 5 gallon pails.

SWIM has a syringe of LDPE, for basting or some such. Worked great, SWIM only had 80ml naphtha in there for a 20 min pull to test the bark, good stuff! Quite an interesting smell SWIM says, something he could acquire a taste for

is it okay to get water in the container you are siphoning into? will it seperate into its own layer?

Yes the layers should separate and then you can use a pipette to suck the water out from underneath the solvent.
