limonene=oil floats on water right?

Hi guys,

I'm not quite sure here now. Limonene is an oil so it floats on water, and it has done with my vinegar/naoh/mhrb/limonene mix and also with a sodium carb wash the water is on the bottom the limonene on top which makes sense. So now I've added my FASW water to my limonene (the fumaric acid really didn't mix with the water too well unless I heated it, even with shaking for a while, is that normal? Also the fum. acid seems to seperate out lots as soon as it cools off) And as expected the FASW is on the bottom as before. The limonene has hopefully lost dmt alkaloids so it would be even lighter and the water even heavier, right? So how come in BLAB they speak about how it doesn't matter if you take all of the FASW off since you are doing three pulls in total and you can do it on the last pull? Am I now fussing over a words? Do they mean you pull off the limonene and you take a bit more of the FASW off as well until the last pull or is something wrong in my concoction? It seems like something is wrong anyway since I don't see my limonene getting much clearer after two pulls.

Maybe this is why I'm not a chemist :oops:

Thanks for any input.

Kind regards,
PPE

fumaric acid is only slightly soluble in cold water, so yes that is normal.

I don't fully understand your question... It doesn't matter if you get every single last drop of FASW out of the limonene on the first and second saltings, because you are going to do a third salting and any DMT-containing FASW that remains in the limonene will combine with the third salting and then you can pipette it all out. I don't imagine the limonene would get much clearer because it will still be full of impurities that you aren't salting out.
